Losing 1 lane of a roadway for 2 weeks is an "awful" injustice to humanity. Never mind people being shot by the military protesting for democracy in Tianamen Square, or Gandhi calling for an end to British rule, or Rosa Parks protesting for an end to decades of segregation. Ford boasted in public (to reporters) that he uses the HOV lanes.. He's an elected official who was essentially BRAGGING about how he personally doesn't feel he should have to abide by laws that he just doesn't like.. That's why people are upset..

This guys is an idiot and likely has a slim if at all chance to win an election. He talks all the time about being the Mayor but I think his 15 minutes are over. HOV lanes are ineffective around here, and actually makes traffic worse. I'd love to see them go. I'd much rather see them turned into some kind of long-range, high-speed lane that's cut off from other lanes except at occasional, slower speed transfer points.
I've never actually used the HOV lanes illegally outside of occasionally using one to pass a left-lane hog holding up traffic. Doesn't inconvenience anyone else and actually improves the flow of traffic. That said, it still makes me uncomfortable.
