As a City councillor, they take an oath and part of the oath states that they will abide by and up hold the laws?
So there is a big difference between an average citizen and a by-law maker.

Ghandi, viet nam war protesters, the occupy movement.

Civil disobedience has a long honorable tradition of making democratic change.

The imposition of the pan am games and the seizure of public roads for the exclusive use of elites (athletes and officials) calls out for civil disobedience.

In addition the adding of demerit points for a non safety related infraction is wrong
I would agree that there are issues that demand we protest like the ones you just mentioned. Being inconvenienced by heavier traffic is not a suitable issue to protest especially by an elected official. #Toronto1stWorldProblems

Never got caught yet and as a matter of fact have never seen anyone got caught.
That's OK, we have police stats and needn't rely on you for that. My hopes remain high.

But you can thank all the law-abiding folks for keeping your taxes down. Just think what they'd be if everyone needed cops to make them do the right thing.

I gotta admit.. This isn't newsworthy..

We're talking about an ex-mayor who smoked crack (several times) while in office... He associated with gangsters and drug dealers.. And his driver (at the time) is currently charged with extortion in an attempt to get back incriminating evidence against him...

The fact that this blow hard figures he shouldn't have to abide by the same laws as everybody else is hardly fucking news..

It's not the inconvenience. It's usurpation of the public road for a select few and done without democratic input or public consultation

Of course. Just like every driver speeds, parks illegally, etc.

The only reason this is news is because they asked rob ford. How many other councillors were asked the same question

This is why Rob Ford can no longer be Mayor can't even represent his city in respectful manner as a councilor. But who cares, Ford is just an insignificant rouge councilor.

Don't be so dramatic. No bullets will be fired, no one is being beaten by the cops and no one has been thrown into prison without trial for illegally driving in a HOV lane. There is simply no comparison between HOV lanes and the protests you mentioned earlier.

So you are just a self important jerk who thinks you should be ahead of everyone else.
Now that you don't live in TO its easy to call people jerks, right? After you move back and when you need to rush from pt A to pt B for a living we'll discuss again .

Nor is it worth saying that he — or anyone — did so. But some people can only inflate their egos boasting that they got away with bad behaviour. And reporters do learn what attracts the attention that even dopey pols are addicted to.

Doesn't explain the TERBian boasters though.

There are plenty of protests that don't end with bullets flying or prison terms
