Thoughts about using your real number when contacting SP's

Hello,

I recently got rid of my old real phone because I was getting worried that I had contacted to many SP's with it. Now I got a new number which is my real phone and I got a burner phone for hobbying to be safe. But the other day my hobby phone wouldn't work and I contacted a SP using my real number... Am I fucked now or should I have nothing to worry about? Also does everyone use a hobby phone?

Ottawa base.
If she is a reputable SP who has an online presence and you didn't assault her, were a dick etc. Why would you be worried?
It's not like we want everyone to be our boyfriend and got out to contact everyone out of the blue. At least a professional SW shouldn't do this.

No I mean I had a wonderful time with her, I'm just a paranoid guy and think about the cops being after me for hobbying.

Unless you have someone in your life who is interested in who you have called...and if that leaves any trace anywhere that you cannot delete. Or...depending on your number, she could google it and maybe find out more about you than you are interested in disclosing. Sorry to throw these potential concerns out jobforacowboy because you seemed to be a good place a few posts ago....

I agree with Malika, any reputable sp that you had a good time with would have little reason to contact you or cause you any problems. Nor do most of us ever even come into contact with LE, and if they are not looking at our phone (has never ever happened to me) there's no way LE would get your number randomly or cause you any issues.
Thank you beautiful for giving me your thoughts :) you're 100 percent right

youre generally 99% OK all the time with your normal phone number. the goverment has alot of other people to chase down so dont worry about them. guys carrying burner phones are smart but i have seen it backfire (wife finds the burner phone). if u go backpage route youre probably rolling some dice but probably not that much more risk.

The biggest risk ive seen, and this has permeated with my sugarbaby adventures moreso then my hobby adventures is that your personal phone could be connected to your facebook, and so when u add a girl into your contacts, the FB app does a check against your contacts to try and get u to add more friends. this means an SP could gather your name by using the FB app on her phone (or instagram, or snapchat, etc). again, this is all pretty circumspect and easy way to get around this is not allow FB to use your contacts.

there are also burner number apps for ios and android which help alleviate this save they dont handle MMS messages very well (and half of the fun is getting sexy selfies) but snapchat has certainly been helpful for that.

Just to elaborate: TextPlus, Fongo for free burner texting and calling apps. MMS works on TextPlus. Be willing to take a single blocked call or message from a genuine number and you're good.

Malika is dead right; the concern for privacy is NOT from the angle of provider-client. It's just not in our best interests to ever disclose that information or bother you directly. If it happens, it's either a mistake OR someone who doesn't know what they're doing, and probably someone you'd want to consider not frequenting for other reasons. It'd mess with our reputation, and our continued longterm relationship. It IS in the best interests of safety and comfort for all involved to make sure she has as much information as she requires to feel safe, so if asked for a real number (I know I check and ask sometimes) provide it, and explain that you'd prefer another number. We get it and deal with it every day. ("This is my real number, but I'll be calling from xxx-xxxx".)

The police aren't asking escorts for their phone records, and even then, it's just not worth pursuing ($500 fine to the client, IF proven? Please). In the same way, police are not bothering drivers and subpoenaing in records for using handheld devices for the $490 fine. C'mon, some logic here. Your paranoia isn't worth my safety :)

Thank you for your thoughts @Hiding. I have come to the conclusion that I am being ridiculous with my paranoia. Sorry for this ridiculous post

So what if the police know you called an escort? All they would know is that you called her. Its not illegal to talk to an escort on the phone. Or to have lunch with her. Or to visit her in her apartment and talk about the Super Bowl or what she should wear to her brother's wedding. Etc. The only risk of the police knowing you called an escort is personal embarrassment, which is also not illegal.

If you're that worried about one phone call, you might want to reconsider your choice of hobby.
It's supposed to be a fun hobby, not a source of stress.

Lots of people are paranoid. You are not alone. Did you see the helicopters when you left your apartment today or it was just me?? :) :)

Perhaps, but a lot of SP's state text only... not sure why though, especially with C-36. Now just too play the devil's advocate for a minute - Let's say someone uses a burner phone for an outcall. While it's true the number cannot be traced back to them, the info on a text message sure could. E.g. (Name, address, who they're seeing, for how long etc..) I feel it's better not to leave an electronic trail in general, so I wish more SPs would go back to good old fashioned voice communication over the telephone. Just mho

No worries ! Just leave a pad and pencil on the fridge for your SO to write any messages that come in. :D

Not ridiculous! It's a pretty common paranoia... and justified if you're not single :)

Who's tracing it? Provided you're not being violent and are willing to comply with screening, any tracing is not coming from a reputable escort. Similarly, the police aren't bothering you if it's a completely consensual connection.

I don't understand why some people prefer text messages only, but that's their preference and entirely unrelated to C-36. I prefer thorough, detailed emails and planned out well in advance; I don't have time or interest in taking immediate appointments or spending time with someone I don't know or jive well with. That's me and my preference. There's little concern over any communication, voice or written, from a party that has anything other than a very personal concern in what you do with your genitals.

The concern is SOs.
