Horrible, horrible thing for her to tweet. It wasnt even funny either.

Rightly canned.

BTW, remember how you guys Libs criticized us for taking issue with Michelle Wolf's remarks about Sarah Huckabee's appearance, and how we should just take a joke. Isnt this the same, Barr poking fun at someones appearance??

Same thing, some might say
Not even close.

Michelle Wolf commented on Sarah's make up, which she praised. "Great smokey eye"...just that she created it via her lies.

I don't remember her calling her ugly or even likening her to an animal.

Roseanne had three questionable tweets this week and she's done the same thing on 3 previous occasions in the last few months. All three times she's promised to stop tweeting, but didn't. IMHO, These weren't comedic based tweets. She has a long history of questionable attacks against black women.

I liked her shows, both the original and reboot - nor for her, I'm a fan of Dan / John Goodman. The new show is doing well in the ratings. The original show was (rumoured) canceled because of her constant fighting with cast and production staff. Apparently she's a real bear to deal with. Maybe Insidious Von is correct and she has a mental illness? I researched briefly and read some innuendo, but nothing factual.

I agree with b4u that comedians get a little more latitude when "in character".

Not sure where I stand on all this, but the situation sucks!

Nope, she was referring to her hanging eye, which I admit does look like she just had a stroke or a bad botox procedure.

But be honest now Derrick, is it OK to mock Trump's hair endlessly, but suddenly its not OK for Roseanne to mock that black lady??
I think both are kinda stupid and out of line, but hey if you want a double standard then be my guest

Shockingly, I'm with Phil on this one. Even though Michelle Wolf was delivering a comedic routine and therefore gets more latitude, her comments IMHO crossed the line. She wasn't funny and the comments were just plain nasty.

People mocking other people's looks for fun says more about them then the person they are mocking. But I have a hard time equating what Rosanne did to what Michelle Wolfe did. They are both bad but using a comparison to an animal that has been a long held belief by racists is going a step farther in my opinion. Rosanne might as well have brought out the "N" word and called it a day.

If they canned her ass this quickly, I am guessing that she was not exactly a raging financial success, as well as often being embarrassing.
Actually, it was one of their top-rated shows. They put morals ahead of profit. Something that the GOP led congress is too gutless to do.

The sad part is all of her colleagues are also out of a job. They should sue her!

But ask how Sarah Sanders thought of being mocked in front of a live audience.
Then ask how that black woman thought of being mocked on twitter.

I'll bet there wasnt a whole lot of difference in how they both felt.

If you're gonna call one, you gotta call the other. Otherwise you have a double standard

Roseanne Barr has been tasteless for as long as I can remember her.

That said I didn't see her comment as racist as much as it was typically nasty and mean spirited.

I do find it ironic that the likes of Michelle Wolf can say just about anything and there is even redemption for Kathleen (Kathy) Griffin.

Frankly Roseanne Barr and her cast can probably make more money by taking the show onto pay-per-view.

It's not the first time the aesthetically challenged resort to calling black women ugly and apes. Those attacks on Michelle Obama by the beauty queens (yes, sarcasm) were the most recent vintage. I read somewhere that one of them got their job back.
Sarcasm indeed, are you referring to the brutal verbal attacks Sean "The Confectionaire" Hannity would inflict on Michele Obama. And like a true confectionaire he started a fight with Jimy Kimmel because Kimmel said something not nice about Melania.

Sean Hannity is a confectionaire...you know...fudge packer.

Is it really a "double standard"? Wolf mocked Sarah Huckabee Sanders' looks, specifically her lazy eye and she got slammed for it. Did she cross a line? Maybe she did AND she got slammed for it. But her attempt at humour was totally race neutral. Anybody can have a lazy eye - Sanders, Forest Whitaker... Now, in what planet would a comment of "Muslim brotherhood & Planet of the Apes had a baby = VJ" be considered race neutral? Calling a black person an "ape" is racist. Pure and simple. There is no explaining this away by equating it to Wolf and there is NO double standard.

Could you please quote the lines she directed toward Sarah. I can only remember the smokey eye part.

I'd rather be called ugly and tough to look at than be likened to an animal. Worst yet, an animal that has long been associated with black people as a racial insult.

Like I said, the situations don't even come close. I'm surprised that this is even a debate!!!! People get teased for their looks all the time. It's not often, I hope, that is crosses the line into racial hatred.

As for mocking Trump, he is FAIR game. The way he goes in on women's looks and completely denigrates them, are you seriously looking for sympathy on his behalf? Do me a fayva!!! (in an east end London accent)
