Are we again going to blame the police as being racist ? Or is there a problem in the black community that needs to be addressed. I am not a fan of the police dept but they are the ones that keep us from living in an uncivilized society
No they aren't Police are not the one's that "save" people for an uncivilized society. Opportunity, living conditions and greater prosperity does far more than enforcement in terms of providing safety. Look at our neighbors in Scandinavian countries. Their social programs are top notch and provide for less violent criminal activity among the populace because of how easy and simple it is to achieve basic living conditions.

Not saying police aren't necessary. They absolutely are. But this reliance on them saying they are your the only thing keeping you from the mass hordes of evil wrongdoers is wrong. In many cases, they're the one's you should fear. Regardless of race. I can easily google so many instances of poor white people getting absolutely assaulted by police for no good reason at all.

Hmm… so rap culture continually glorifies drugs and gang violence and people are surprised when the members of that culture are arrested more often for drug and gang stuff.
To be fair white people express the same types of shit but just differently; breaking bad, the Sopranos, the movie "falling down", Billy the kid, Bonny and Clyde, the godfather 1...100, etc...

In the US, African-Americans are incarcerated at five times the rate of white people – with over half sentenced for drug crimes. This is not a bug of the War on Drugs, it’s a feature. Since their earliest beginnings, drug laws have been explicitly built around targeting ethnic minorities. We trace this horrifying story – right up to how the War on Drugs is perhaps the key driver of racism in policing today.

just found this on youtube

history of black racism and black misandry

Combining archival footage with testimony from activists and scholars, director Ava DuVernay's examination of the U.S. prison system looks at how the country's history of racial inequality drives the high rate of incarceration in America.

This piercing, Oscar-nominated film won Best Documentary at the Emmys, the BAFTAs and the NAACP Image Awards.

US Rating: TV-MA For mature audiences. May not be suitable for ages 17 and under.

Granted, but one needs to take the pervasiveness and extremity into account.

It is hard enough for two parents to raise children. The difficulty is compounded for single parents. In most of the United States and GTA, black families are broken. 72% of all black children in the United States are born to single parents. A single mother working outside the home with no after school care for her children exposes the boys to gang influence. This leads to drugs, weapons and higher rates of incarceration for blacks on both sides of the border. For reference, the notorious Bloods and Crips LA gangs have a strong presence in the wretched Jane/Finch corridor and other areas of the GTA. Sad.

Ok I'll nick pick. The movie Falling Down had nothing to do with drugs. It was about a guy who lost his job and access to see his kid and he finally snapped.

As Charlemagne has shown, blacks are targeted by the police.

I've said this before, but what happened is police heavily patrol black communities and do not let people off with warnings.Jaywalking? Ticket. Drinking in public? Ticket. Yelling at a neighbour? Public intoxication or creating a disturbance. Fist fight between kids? Assault charges for both. Then, the DA or Crown throw the book at them instead of considering redirection programs and what not. They also get harsher bail conditions, resulting in many spending time in remand or pleading to BS charges. So, those communities are seen as being high crime, so the police patrol even more and work to inflate the figures to justify their budgets. All the arrests and imprisonments breaks up family units, plus bad schools makes kids think the only way out is through crime. And the media sensationalizes arrests or violence in these communities.

Now, this doesn't happen in white neighbourhoods nearly as much. Yes, whites get arrested, but they get lighter sentences (for various reasons including the ability to hire an attorney), or get access to programs that help them avoid jail or get bail. The get the benefit of the doubt in the legal system.

There are definitely issues in the black community. Police are one of them. They are like an occupying army. As a white kid, I always felt safe around police, and that I could go to the for help for nearly anything. Black kids probably never feel that way, and see how the cops treat their family members and other people in the community. In most major US cities, minority communities have shitty schools. White people who can afford it send their kids to private schools while the public system deteriorates. Blacks have trouble getting good jobs. If they get into the correctional system, they have a real hard time getting a good job, so they live at slave wages.

Basically, society has failed the black community time and time again. It is easy for middle class white people to think that it's the black's fault, that they need to learn to pull themselves up from their bootstraps. But, that is just total BS.

I guess police should patrol the white neighbourhoods and leave the black neighbourhoods alone because it's been unfair to do it the other way.

Your comments are very unfair...
