I think he's right. We're celebrating obesity. This girl Yumi Nu will likely be a physical mess before she is forty.

At first, I thought he should have kept quiet. Then I gradually moved to why should he fear the Twitter mob. Finally, I think he should have had a thicker skin knowing people would quarrel with his opinion.

In any event, he didn't leave the platform. I think he decided to take break from Twitter.

You suppose to oh and ah out loud with the full knowledge that you wouldn't hit that with a prosthetic. I agree, celebrating obesity is madness.

I have to wonder about the economics of these decisions. How does embracing this nonsense increase subscription sales or advertising revenue? SI is (predominantly) a men's magazine. That's why they came up with the idea of a swimsuit edition in the first place. Surely this issue will not sell as well at the newstands? And as to advertisers, eyeballs = advertising revenue. If the edition is a poor seller, doesn't advertising revenue dip?

I'd love to hear the Board of Directors tackle questions like this at a shareholders meeting. I would predict that if the answer is "because it's the "right" thing to do", but the numbers suffer, the next motion would be to replace the board!

This is where you badly body shame.

This is not obesity.

This thick girl could be in perfect health condition. Her extra thickness is well proportionate. She could live, and probably will, much longer than Peterson's body ravaged by years of alcohol abuse.

It's just a pic. Sport illustrated decided that maybe it's time to showcase girl that are not tooth pic thin. Which I think is fine.

This girl is not thick, she's obese.

There's nothing sexier than a thick built girl.

She's a far way from toothpick thin I can tell you that.

And she's clinically obese of that there is no doubt unless you're just being plain obtuse.

Oh and Peterson and alcohol abuse?.......Like where do you get this stuff?...LOL.

As Dutch Oven stated above, Sports Illustrated's primary mission is to sell magazines to men. If Cosmopolitan or Vogue want to feature chubby women selling magazines primarily to women that's a whole other thing.

The origination of the SI Swimsuit edition several decades ago was to take a slow sports month and titillate grown men and teenager boys into buying the magazine. Like so many media outlets today, SI seems to be lecturing their audience.

I don't think this chubby Sports Illustrated cover girl and porn actress Sierra Sanders are comparable in size.
Don't know what SI is thinking promoting ill health. I knew a couple who had everything, even obesity, they are both gone from this world now. WARNING: if you're obese but don't have diabetes, go on a diet and get a physical done by an oncologist.

That's because one has a thick build the other is obese...not in proportion. Bianca Andreescu is a thick built girl. Sierra Sanders is super fuckin hot!

Anyone see her hot yoga workout.

Your reading skills are not at best here..

For Petersen I got it wrong. He quit alcohol early on. But I did remember him fighting an addiction and it was to drug. More precisely prescribed pain killers.

You remember incorrectly. He had a paradoxical reaction to a benzodiazepine which led to akathisia. The benzo was for anxiety relating to at the time his wife's terminal cancer diagnosis ( which turned later out to be false and she was treated)

He was unable to get a successful remedy in North America so he was flown to Russia where he was put in a medically induced coma for treatment.

Never a drug addict as his detractors claim.

I don't really care what you call it. We have(especially in America) an epidemic of obesity that causes all kinds of problems from diabetes to heart and circulatory problems. The push for acceptance is simply wrong.

Seems like a of people want to criticize Americans for all sorts of indulgence and extravagance. However if you criticize American obesity, the PC police come out in full force.

Can't we just describe it for what it is "eating too much of the world's precious food supply". Think of the carbon footprint of all that food, the food packaging and the extra gas required to haul that ass around. :ROFLMAO:

But being thicker is not unhealthy. That's what you do not get. She's probably in great health shape. She's not obese at all dude.

There are many slim people with cardiovascular disease, diabetes or other health problem.

Look at your idol Trump. He never drank and never abused sugar so despite the fact that he is indeed obese he has never suffered serious health issue.

This SI pic is a push for acceptance of different body type. That's it.

He threw out a gratuitous personal insult, attempted to turn it into a "political" statement and then milked the blowback that he knew would happen for some free PR. He's basically as much of a whore for this sort of thing as MTG or Boebert.

Since it's so valuable that we insult people that we consider overweight, why don't you make it your personal mission in life, Wyatt. You can tour all-you-can-eat buffets, stand outside and scream "Hey, fatso!" at people exiting.

The point being that's pretty much what Peterson did.
