IMO, anyone who kills like this has mental health issues. That said, the press doesn't seem to focus on mental health causes for some demographics.

Because a baseball bat or kitchen knife would have given the cops a fighting chance. Hell, even a bolt action hunting rifle might have saved the life of one of them.
They seem to be holding a lot back. Why not mention the third officer at the beginning of this story ? It is like reading a cheap novel with a twist every chapter. The neighbour heard as round of gunfire. So did three police enter the building at the same time and only one got his revolver out before two were shot down ? I would have thought the gunman would be aiming at the man pointing a gun at him before shooting men who were not an immediate threat. No wonder he was bounced from the military.
You completely missed the point. We need to focus on mental health and social well being. That’s where we would do the most to help people. It is also the hard choice that requires the most effort and resources. It isn’t the cheap political posturing to gain points that blaming the gun does. I have personally experienced the level of care that is available for mental health. If you are lucky and really need help….you might get someone to talk to in 3 to 4 months. This is not an exaggeration and I did say months. The police will tell you “There is nothing we can do, so it is useless to try”. Funding has been cut and Scarborough all the way to Coburg have been reduced to one clinic in Oshawa. Do you really believe one clinic is enough to service that many people?
