I hate onions.Still my hero, still a giant...I'm not afraid to admit I cried with him.

It's the sports forum with Borje Salming as the topic...take a hike, your act is stale and tiring.Tucker would be outraged and claimed he faked it for publicity
I can’t believe they still don’t have proper ALS medication. Like at least something to get people to live a little longer. I’m surprised no pharmaceutical conspiracies have even come up with something to cash in on.I think that might be Salming's final public appearance.
Here was Lou Gehrig's final public appearance.

Ya, really surprised that Sit, Lanny and Tiger were the only ones there, thought for sure Palmy would be there , he and Salming were the last line of defence for a few years.I was disappointed Sittler and Williams were the only ex-teammates in attendance Saturday night. It would have been nice if Inge Hammerstrom was there. Ian Turnbull, Mike Palmateer, heck I even would have invited Dave Schultz to bury the hatchet.
P.S. I don't count Bruce Boudreau's attendance since it was for different reasons. Some nice trivia pointed out by HNIC: when Boudreau had his only NHL hatrick Salming assisted on all three goals.
I was gonna use that as a trivia question, lolSome nice trivia pointed out by HNIC: when Boudreau had his only NHL hatrick Salming assisted on all three goals.
Pretended I was Salming also on the rinks, I would emulate his trademark, "put puck through own legs" move to deke opponents,For years, I wanted a Leaf's Jersey with 21 on it but we were too poor. I played defence as a kid and would run the play by play in my head whenever I had a chance to go end to end like Salming did. Orr was another hero, but he was a Bruin. Salming was ours. That entire era brings back so many good childhood memories. Street hockey. Saturday nights watching on CBC. Outdoor rinks. Smelly equipment in the hall. Monday morning in class talking about the game from Saturday.
He looked like a rockstar.Salming will be my favourite sports figure til the day I die.
It was more than his abilities, I felt a real affection for him, his look, the way he carried himself.
I always liked players that could handle their fists, but I admired him so much because he wasn't a fighter
and he never, ever backed down.
I still remember the first time he and Hammarstrom (with Hammarstrom's girlfriend in the middle) were filmed
walking in Toronto, he was tall, lanky, walked with that bow legged strut, he was so cool.
He was a real Viking with a gentle soul.
Can you imagine Salming playing WITH those Habs teams? It was actually one of the talking heads who said that he had talked to Scotty Bowman who told him that Orr and Salming were the only two defencemen that the great Habs teams of the 70's had to adjust their style for. And when you consider just how great and how dominant those Habs teams were, that's quite a compliment.
