I understand why the state of Israel was created but think it was faulty logic. The Holocaust is perhaps the most horrific crime against humanity ever, along with the indigenous genocide in North America. The mandate of Palestine had a history of peaceful multicultural coexistence, as did quite a few of the surrounding countries, there was a great read I about an 'Arab Jew', someone who's family was part of the Iraqi Jewish community. I agree that the Jewish people needed protection after WWII but building ethno states out of multicultural states wasn't the way to do it.

If you're Jewish, you should also understand that Toronto has a long history of left wing Jews, from the Christie Pits riot to this day at places like Camp Navelt. I'm friends with that community as I'm also friends with Palestinians and some other Arab communities. Toronto works in a way few places does as a multicultural city. That community does not support zionism and are trying to find a way forward to peace. And not through trying to drive either people into the sea or by using military force to subjugate the other side. That's why I argue for deescalation and the end of apartheid.

But if you support Israel's actions, can you say where you think its going and how you think peace can be achieved?

The endgame was miticulously designed by Hamas....They know fully well the answer to their actions and planned well to inflict as much damage as they can...they wouldn't want citizens of Gaza to evacuate as that's part of their "protection"... Israel knows fully well without cutting electricity and water, residents will not leave and will continue to be the shields for Hamas...

Do Palestinians have the same right to self defence that you think the Jewish people of Israel have?

When the 1000 settlers stormed the Al Aqsa about a week ago I pointed out that Netanyahu was allowing settlers to incite more violence. That this could be a repeat of 2021 when thousands of settlers stormed the Al Aqsa and Hamas responded. Of course Israel responds with disproportionate violence to every action by Hamas, that is the pattern. The occupiers take more land/assault the natives, the indigenous population responds with violence, the occupation responds with 10x the violence. Then things settle for a year or two and it all happens again.

Its what you call for every time as well, Hamas commits terrorism then you call for terrorism in return, but for 10x worse terrorism.

I look at it not necessarily as a war crime. It is simply war. Bad shit happens to innocent people during wars. And stuff like this has been going on for thousands of years and has been used hundreds of times.

Because there was no endgame for Israel, that's not what they wanted to begin with...Israel was willing to co-exist with Palestine....I'm pretty sure with the change of ruling party in Palestine, peace could be reintroduced...not while Hamas rules though... am I right or am I right?

The Hamas 1988 charter says they want all of Palestine but that if the Palestinian people wanted to settle for a two state solution they'd go along.

I just support the end of apartheid and equal rights for all living there, whatever you want to call it.

It should be noted that Palestine never existed as a country. The Mandate For Palestine existed just after WWI and was under British Control until 1948. Prior to that it was simply a region of the Ottoman Empire. It has no distinct attributes religiously, culturally or socially.
Palestinian Arabs never wanted to co-exist with the 'dirty' Jews. Palestinian Arabs also openly supported the Nazi Party during the Holocaust. The extermination of Jews was always their end goal.

Iran and Hamas must have known that this attack would make it difficultly for Israel to talk and engage with the Saudis and that the guaranteed Israeli response would be severely detrimental to the Palestinians for the foreseeable future and potentially create setbacks for decades. Israel will necessarily continue to exist and so too will the uprising but in different forms as Israel will now secure it‘s borders in ways like no other time in their history thus far.
