Safer than driving in a car. Stop watching the news...Is this a phobia? Or a smart move?

Interminable lines, cramped accommodations, rude (of worse) fellow passengers , undependable and expensive. Maybe you don't die, but your life is less worth livingSafer than driving in a car. Stop watching the news...![]()
And what about life at your destination ?Interminable lines, cramped accommodations, rude (of worse) fellow passengers , undependable and expensive. Maybe you don't die, but your life is less worth living...
this sounds calming... however I believe I have a phobia forming .When ever i read articles on plane rides theres someone starting fights in the air about politics or something numerous emergency landings. This is what did it for me.News is all about grabbing the eyeballs.
Do you ever see a follow up about the number of annual injuries and deaths from walking, biking, cars, trains, planes based on a km travelled per year basis?
Every time there is an accident with a train or a plane in US the NTSB convenes an investigation to try to make the system safer.
There are a zillion too many car and pedestrian accidents to even hope that a similar investigation would happen.
Plus trains and planes are operated by regulated professionals
Car drivers would flip if no weed and/or no drinking the day before, or longer,
And also be well rested before they were considered fit to operate a motor vehicle on a public road.
Premium economy or business class is even better if you can afford it, and high quality noise cancelling headphones to shut off the outside world of idiots. These days I fly less but better.this sounds calming... however I believe I have a phobia forming .When ever i read articles on plane rides theres someone starting fights in the air about politics or something numerous emergency landings. I'm willing to lower my expectations (but not a lot, plenty of cute babes close at hand here) to help save the planet. I hadn't mentioned that part, had I?And what about life at your destination ?

Then stop seeking out those articles / videos (especailly on TikTok) about fights on board, emergency landings, etc. Seek out educational aviation videos on YouTube (particularly from pilots or flight attendants) that explain how planes work, how they maintain them, and the processes pilots follow in emergencies. The only way to get over a phobia is to expose yourself to more of what you're afraid of and seek out accurate information.this sounds calming... however I believe I have a phobia forming .When ever i read articles on plane rides theres someone starting fights in the air about politics or something numerous emergency landings. I'd recommend an active noise cancelling over the ear headphone (or earmuff style) from a big brand like Sony, Bose, etc. over earbuds. Earbuds can hurt your ears after wearing them for a while and only work if you can get a good seal in your ear.Premium economy or business class is even better if you can afford it, and high quality noise cancelling headphones to shut off the outside world of idiots. Who pissed in your Corn Flakes? Air travel is extremely safe, relatively inexpensive and fast, compared to driving. Sure you have to put up with lineups etc. but how else are you going to travel overseas?Interminable lines, cramped accommodations, rude (of worse) fellow passengers , undependable and expensive. Maybe you don't die, but your life is less worth living...
You could travel by ship across the Pacific or Atlantic. As long as you don't mind taking a few to get across. At least you get a room to yourself and 3 meals a day.Sure you have to put up with lineups etc. but how else are you going to travel overseas?
Much of that is true of rest / gas stops when you're driving around. It's a huge shame that we don't have any high speed rail connecting major cities. Via is "proposing" a high frequency rail project, but it's not the same as high speed rail and likely won't see the light of day or will be badly watered down before it comes online. That being said, the Via from Toronto to Montreal is decent even in economy and takes almost the same amount of time as flying when you include getting to and from the airports on both ends. Not worried about safety on a plane in the least but it’s certainly a pain in the ass to fly these days. People trying to bring on enough carry on for the 3 bedroom house, the hurry up and wait at every step, shitty overpriced airport food, mouth breathing morons at every turn. I‘ve made a conscious decision to drive over fly when it’s at all possible.
