Don't get me wrong, anything to keep already economically beleaguered people from suffering more unaffordable prices, but this coward used CHY-nah to chicken out of his big bully tariffs.

But this fucking petulant, unhinged egomaniac has now sown economical and corporate uncertainty for another 3 months.

Companies have been scrambling for months trying to figure out how to maybe catch maybe falling swords rather than thinking of how to keep their business' growing and stable. Do they move to USA? Do they ignore the US market? So many questions that are IMPOSSIBLE to seek possible solutions to move forward.

And consumers around the world, including if not especially Canadians and Americans, naturally are unsure of the future. When people feel that way, they don't spend money. Companies don't think of growth, they think of cost cutting employees etc.

So this fucking bullshit moose in a CHY-nah shop is a simple minded egomaniac that hurts everyone in his path.

So you wanted trump to go through with the tarrifs so we have certainty? Im confused.

Specifically targetting China is the correct move, who has engaged in unfair trade practices since being ushered into the WTO. The CCP has been at war with the west for decades. Im glad people are opening up their eyes to it finally

I have to agree with you on this China has been taking advantage of the rest of the world for decades, like copyright infringement patent fraud and flooding the market with cheap Goods, they should be taken down a notch. But there was no reason to go against a Free Trade Agreement in North America that Trump himself negotiated

Is Trump going to keep doing 90 day and 30 day pauses for 4 years? Indecision is more confusing.

Trump isn't specifically targeting China. He's backed up against a wall and is using China as a scapegoat. Trump's tariffs make no sense and he's looking for a way out.

You know what makes no sense, allowing China to continue to circumvent rules and engage in unfair trade practices without any repurcussions. The CCP does not believe in win-win. Its zero sum for them.

So why even suggest tariffs around the world? What did we as Canada do to America to deserve such treatment.

First it's Canada, then Mexico, then Greenland, then Panama, then Ukraine, then Palestine, then EU, then Taiwan, then the rest of the world, Now it's China.

He doesn't know what he's doing. He's all over the place.

What's really amazing is that 15 minutes before he did the announcement he tweeted 'this would be a great time to buy'.

So Trump is the Yo-Yo master, and the stock markets are his Yo-Yo.

He's making the Yo-Yo do tricks, first drop down like "walk the dog", then a short bit of "sleep", and then up high again with "around the world".

The U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission has indicated they are going to investigate Trump's see-saw actions as regarding possible "market manipulation"...

Trump insiders are making a killing getting in the stock market then out then in again before Trump makes his
latest tariff announcement

I would love to see Marjorie Taylor Greene's stock portfolio

Inside trading is a criminal offense and should be easy to spot and indictable in this case

Of course you are confused. You see things through a lens that has to boost or excuse Trump.

And you are ascribing "wants" to me that I did not express.

Try re-reading the first words in my opening statement. Then cross reference to the title of the topic.

Trump's face-saving move is a half measure he jsut came up with out of desperation when he saw he was cratering his own economy. The leading indicator of which is the tens of trillions of dollars lost in the US stock markets.

His sycophants all claim it was all part of his genius Master Plan. Which may have some truth to it as Trump's negotiating style is as predictable as negotiation in a Turkish Rug Bazaar.

even IF that bullshit were true, and he planned tis all along... his 90 days bullshit only causes continued uncertainty in the USA and the rest of the world. From governments, to big and small companies, to simple workers, the confidence that stability brings has vanished like a pecker in ice water . 90 days of more "wait and see" means people not spending money, not investing etc. But it has woken non-American countries, governments and citizens to understand how they have been foolish to put so much faith and investment into the USA. Now they realize that the country is even more ignorant and fucked up than they thought because they elected this incompetent egomaniac.

At least it has moved Canada out of our comfy chair and are going to broaden our markets and strengthen our bonds with LIKE-MINDED, honourable and trustworthy societies.

Absolutely "TARGETTING CHINA IS The CORRECT MOVE". You are right, they not only engage in unfair trade practices, they engage in commercial fraud on a national, cultural basis, safe behind the Chinese Wall from repercussions. I've been involved in companies who were outright ripped off for millions of dollars of defective, substandard products, and who have never even shipped subsequent orders once the relationship has developed where big deposits on huge orders were made.

And yes, China is also ACTIVELY targetting western industry and tech, passing off counterfeit US branded goods and selling patent protected products with absolute impunity. And are THE source country for fentanyl and precursor chemicals. So yeah... TARGET CHINA! Enact trade embargoes on specific companies, industries, products, derivative products etc that infringe on US IP. Heck, here on TERB I bet we could come up with 10 refined to be highly effective trade measures to effect such change in behaviour.

Even apply tariffs on specific goods.

But fucking Know-it-All Trump, a simpleton at best, just pulls nice round numbers out of his flabby white ass and applies global tariffs on everyone and everything (except Russia!) . When someone starts the double the asking price, then looks for a counter-offer, then offers to split the difference... that person is not negotiating from a point of knowledge and being rational, they are letting their ego's run their brain. I used to deal with fucking goofs like this all the time in the trades. If I take the time and money to invest in a proper take-off and RFQ, invite a trade to quote and that trade eitehr lowballs me or tries me on for size and then offers big discounts etc... I know they are either or both didn't do their homework, don't know what they are really doing or are jsut playing negotiating games, I tell them to their face to fuck off.

Same if I am giving a quote or proposal. Or if I'm selling something. I figure out my costs, consider my situation, crunch the numbers factoring in my interest in the job or product and then post a fair price.

Trump just pulls numbers out of his ass. And if he wants to show he is serious, he doubles it. In a good mood or feels pushback , cuts it in half. This is such a primitive, rudimentary approach to selling shit on Kijij ffs, never mind fucking with the global economy and lives of so many billions of people. Or even just the 300 million Americans ... or even just the millions that voted for this traitorous skidmark.

I can't imagine President Trump being that subtle - deplete the reserves and China will be forced to increase money supply and fuel inflation - making outsourcing even more expensive and manufacture in the US more appealing?"

True story. One of my friends is in the stone business, and had sourced much of his raw material from Chinese quarries. The Chinese businessman he dealt with, just decided to up and move his entire operation to Vietnam just to avoid the tariffs. Apparently he saw it coming and the relocation is almost complete. The tariffs from Vietnam are much more affordable it seems, as Vietnam is much more open minded to imports than China.

This doesn't even begin to address the 295 billion dollar trade surplus of China with the USA.

Do you think we will miss NOT spending that money MORE than they regret LOSING it? We get to keep 295 billion, they get nothing but empty factories."

I guess you want Americans to pay more for everything. I bet the heads of Walmart are in complete panic mode right now. Do you realize how integrated China is in almost everything Americans buys?

Exactly!

And what exactly is Trump doing to address those unfair trade practices? An across the board tariff on all chinese goods?

IF that insecure, deliberately ignorant egomaniac truly consulted with the tens of thousands of economic and international trade experts in the US, they would have provided him the tools to address the actual unfair trade issues that previous Administrations have not had the courage to enact.

i find it rich that China became the de facto sweat shop of the world by the United States companies that outsourced their production, and US jobs, to China in the first place! US corporate greed, the single mindedness of quarterly reporting and expected exponential growth rate that publicly traded companies were and are driven by the United States. The USA created the multi-headed dragon that China has become.

And that is not even mentioning how Chinese state-owned companies are buying up high tech US companies for relative pennies just to acquire their technical knowledge.

For one small example, look to Cirrus Aircraft. They were founded in the 80's in Minnesota and developed several small 4-6 seat general aviation aircraft with ground-breaking features and technology. These planes have parachutes that bring down the entire plane, safely, if there is an engine or other failure or pilot incapacitation. They are made with composites and lots of carbon fiber parts. They are the best selling and most technically advanced FAA certified piston engine airplanes in the world. These planes now even have a big red button to push that will land the plane COMPLETELY automatically if the pilot is incapacitated. The panel below is from the single engine bug smasher plane.

1744232110971.png

Here is their personal jet. Single jet engine, can carry TWO METRIC TONNES 2,300 km at 370 mph! This plane is fully FAA certified and ALL the engineering belongs to, CHY-na!

1744232364107.png

The company, all its technical knowledge and experience was bought by the state-owned Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC).

Then they went on to buy the largest certified aircraft piston engine manufacturer in the world, Teledyne Continental Motors located in Mobile AL.

These aircraft have avionics that are more sophisticated than the average late model airliner

They have also bought countless other US general aviation aerospace industries... including all their tech, people and IP.

And guess what... there is NO private general aviation in China. But all these technologies and trade secrets are easily transferrable to military use.

These technologies and products are ready made drones that could deliver 1000lbs of explosives into the font door of an office building a thousand or more miles away.

And Tik ToK/. Scraping all our* data and creating a network of who knows who that would boggle the mind.

Yet what has the big fucking orange con man done to be tough on either direct threat? Gone golfing 1 out of every 3 days he has been in office this time.

What is the Stable Genius' solution? 100% tariffs on TEMO phone cases?

It is NOT zero-sum for China. And they certainly do subscribe to the win-win/lose strategy. Bu it IS win-lose is the only acceptable outcome. The Chinese, like the Russians... AND TRUMP are not only driven by money, nor even winning.. the other party has to lose.
