Todays win continues to show Francis is for real and so is the bullpen and Springer and Kirk can be solid hitters if they get a lot of rest as Springer is older and catching is a hard job and so Kirk needs rest

Vlad and Sandman may not be our homerun saviours that we need when
our starters stop being so good through injuries, which they will, as 3 homers through
one eighth of a season is 24 in a year when it should be 3 or 4 times that amount
if we are gonna be contenders and not pretenders

Both sluggers in a home run drought at the same time for the same extended period
is worrying

I THOUGHT THEY would be the one of the best one two homerun duo in the game and Bo, Vlad and sandman one of the best 1 2 3 punch

First base coach Mark Budzinski is completely at fault for this.

Note that Vlad is watching the fielder, to know when the catch is made. Budzinski appears to be looking at Vlad's foot.

Vlad should be 'in the starting blocks', eyes focused on second base. The coach should be looking at the fielder. He's supposed to yell "Go! Go! Go!!!" as soon as the baseball touches the glove. When it's caught doesn't matter*. If the runner obeys the coach's verbal command, he will never leave early. As is, Budzinski can't help with the challenge, because he's relying on his ears to know when the catch is made. Besides ambient noise from the city and spectators, there's the time lag based on the slow speed of sound as compared to light. Anyone who has seen a concert with video screens in a stadium is familiar with that.

*This rule prevents a fielder from 'half-catching' a fly ball, then juggling it forward to shorten the throwing distance.

So both the coach and Vlad made a mistake

Vlad was looking at fielder and that was coaches job

Coach says go or not and if runner thrown out coaches fault as coach has to know arm of fielder, the throwing position he is in, the speed of runner etc too much for runner to think about

Never knew that rule but I suspect it keeps the fielder from juggling in order to fool runner to leave early,
and fielder could juggle ball all the way back to the infield LOL. Good rule

Schneider needs a talking to for not challenging when Vlad protested. You need to trust your players and defend them

AppleTV streams the MLB network coverage of the game, the commentators are horrible, I don't have an Appletv subscription, I'd rather follow the game on MLB gameday online, and then watch the MLB youtube highlights of the game the following morning.

I have felt all along Vlad was not a superstar and Sandman gets off to slow starts
but this is a serious and unexpected problem when we are waiting for Varsho to get back
so we can have more power

Vlad is not a HR hitter, he is a line drive singles doubles hitter. He hits them so hard they leave the park accidentally.
Hopefully Santander heats up soon, if not, they will not make playoffs.

When Varsh returns it'l take a while for him to get back into spring training form when he he hit a bunch of HRs.

Team is 29 th out of 30 in homers if this doesn't change expect a drop from a decent start.

Incredibly frustrating to watch with such an anemic offense. Yes more home runs are needed but we're not even seeing a lot of hits for extra bases or hits of any kind with runners in scoring position. Hey I can enjoy small ball, but to win with small ball you have to get a lot of runners on the bases and bring them home. Not happening enough. Not even close.

Does any one think that Shneider John can rally this team - be inspirational. We need a tough active manager - how did we miss Terry Francona? Fire Schneider and the hitting coach (hard to tell if we have one). It's a start
