these guys are ridiculous, so many chances and wait till the last day for a hail mary clinch
Some oil is still needed here and there, but you'll see. They will win this last game and go on to win the cup. Eliminating the Leafs along the way. But that will be the easy part ;)

If Montreal can't control their own fate and clinch by beating Carolina then they don't deserve to get into the playoffs - and I am saying that as a life long Habs fan.
Carolina is a very good team but they will be resting 3 key players tonight - Sebastien Aho, Seth Jarvis and Jaccob Slavin. You're correct if Montreal can't at least take a point from this game they don't deserve to be in the playoffs.

So I am glad that the Habs controlled their fate by beating the Hurricanes - but I am also a realist who recognizes that Carolina sat 7 of their key players who accounted for 46% of the Cane's regular season goals.

I don't expect the Hab's to get past the Cap's unless Montembeault channels his inner Jaroslav Halek and steals the series (and Demidov outscores Ovi by a wide margin)
Neither is likely - but the Hab's rebuild appears to be ahead of schedule - with some promising talent in the pipeline.

I'm not entirely sure they controlled much of anything when the team they are facing is resting all their best players and letting the rookies out to have a go at it. Still, it's good to be back in the playoffs again 😁

Tough loss. I like how the Habs came back in this game to force OT.
I believe the Habs had the most (or were tied for the most) comeback wins in the regular season. That is a good news/bad news statistic.

The Caps are a much bigger team and the Habs need to "capitalize" on their overall good team speed to offset the Caps size advantage.

It was a good effort by Montreal and hopefully they can keep the games close and win a couple. But I don't think they will get past the Caps (especially if they leave the NHL's all time leading goal scorer alone in front of their net in OT)

The Habs remind me of the 2017 Leafs, when a young team entered the playoffs for the first time and faced a more experienced Caps team.

Strong game by the Habs.

Wild end to second period with some literal bench penalties as Anderson and Wilson's fight spills into the Cap's bench.
Both starting goalies hurt with Thompson's injury looking serious (knee)

Happy the Habs win a game - but still think the Caps win the series (may take six games though)
