@Mandala:

What you want might be offered by Teksavvy. Check on their website:

teksavvy(dot)com

I didn't post a link, lest I be accused of shilling. I use this company for Internet and home phone, so I am aware of other communication services which they provide.

For Internet, teksavvy buys 'bulk' bandwidth from Rogers and Bell, then sells it to individual customers at less than it costs them, and at less than the source carriers charge their customers. They can make a profit doing that in part because they have no advertising expenses.

Teksavvy has a toll-free phone number, so you could ask them if they have the service you want, and what it would cost.

Only if the other party has WhatsApp too. Can't call landlines, etc.

@Mandala why not just use your cell phone?
Not true about Whats App. A few years ago, when I used WhatsApp the first call I made was to my landline and worked. Also called another landline and worked for that one too. Mind you that was a few years ago and speak about today.

I've got the Tek Talk also and the internet from Teksavvy. I think the resellers got an unfavorable ruling by the CRTC some years back so the internet service is not that cheap anymore. Phone is still pretty cheap.

Do you have internet on your phone or at home?
I use MagicJack which costs about 7$ a month for home phone (free long distance in N.A.) number for contact. There is a USB dongle that you can plug into your PC and use that to call from your computer. You can also download the MJ app onto your cell phone and use it while you are not at home. You can also get text service on the number for 8$/year. As long as you have internet either at home or on the cell, MJ would be the cheapest option. You can also use the app like TextNow that will work the same way
