1. There is a time for drama, and then there is the necessity for sober reflection and deliberate action.

"Elbows Up" was a good campaign slogan. Got you to the PMO. As was summoning Charles & Camilla, to show we are "different". Enough of the drama now.
Do not for a moment forget that governments are transient but geography is enduring. Long after this or that president is gone, Canadians will always have their neighbours to the south. Most of them,
in so far as they know anything about us, view us with as friendly eyes as we view them. Create conditions to sustain this friendship and for it to flourish. Reach out. Hockey is not an appropriate metaphor.
2. National Security.
Canada's national security cannot be outsourced. It has to be devised by Canadians, for Canada. Do no be seduced by the hegemonic ambitions of partners. Nor can it be bought by paying some club dues of this or that percent. Be particularly wary when partners demand that your "dues" be spent on expensive weaponry of dubious utility, which only they will provide. Domes of one or another metalic provenance. Or expensive
ships and airplanes which could be sitting ducks for swarming cheap drones or hypersonic missiles. Warfare is changing fast.
3. Canada's Defence.
The best defence is not to create enemies. And to reach out to old "perceived" enemies with a hand of peace. You need not apologize for inviting Modi; it shows wisdom and good statesmanship. You might have
noticed that there are two "hot" regions of the world where major forces are trying to enlist Uncle Sam to fight THEIR wars. One against Russia. The other against Iran. Either one could become a nuclear holocast. Canada has no business with either.
4. International relations.
Respect the sovereignty of other nations; do not succumb to the temptation of becoming a drama queen by poking your nose into their internal affairs, even at the cost of losing a few votes. Time to revisit Canada's
relations with major powers which were so long neglected by your predecessors. Remember Thomas Jefferson's famous words: Peace, commerce and honest friendship with all nations, entangling alliances with
none.
5. Ongoing Genocide
You have the power to disentangle Canada from this despicable ongoing genocide and to condemn it unconditionally. Weigh your conscience against that donor cheque.

Anyone catch the Minister of Public Safety, Gary Anandasangaree, in question period the other day? When questioned about gun/ firearm license and safety, RPAL, CFSC and 3 classifications of firearms he replied he had no idea about any of that...." I`ve only been here 3 weeks." Want a piece of advice PM Carney? Don`t surround yourself with DEI woke clueless morons. The fucking Liberal useless stupidity rolls on. He also noted the passing of Astronaut Mark Garneau calling him Mark Carney. We`re in good hands Canada, Holy Fuck!

Every Canadian government should actively pursue DEI policies as most Canadians do not aim to take after Nazism like our southern neighbours have.
Pierre could have easily won elections had he stood by these pre-existing policies and differentiated Canada from the US.
But he didn't and lost his own seat.
Keep pushing this MAGA nonsense and reactionary right wing policies in Canada and keep losing elections.

I don`t see that allowing countless foreign illegal migrants waving their countries flags and burning, looting and attacking Police in America is a solid choice. My Dad and Grandfather fought Nazi Germany, God bless them. Trump and his cronies are a whole lotta` not good things but not Nazi`s, these protests would end very very badly for those involved if they were... you do you though.

After watching Carney's presser I am afraid it is more of the same old. He is still mired in the NATO box. Throwing his weight behind the European cliques, trying to poke and provoke the Russian bear, can only have two outcomes. Failure. Or a nuclear holocaust. Not to mention the horrendous price to be paid by our Ukrainian proxy.
If Trump makes good his threat to pull out of Europe, a NATO without the US will be a hollow fantasy.

Acquiring U.S.-made F-35 fighter jets will cost Canada nearly 50% more than disclosed, Auditor-General finds

The cost of replacing Canada’s aging warplanes with U.S.-made F-35 stealth strike fighters is expected to cost nearly 50 per cent more than the estimate Ottawa provided Canadians, a report from the federal Auditor-General says.
These findings arrive as Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government is weighing whether to scale back Ottawa’s order for the F-35s and instead buy European-made fighter planes to reduce Canada’s reliance on U.S. military equipment.
The federal government, which finalized a deal to buy 88 F-35 Lightning fighters from Lockheed Martin in December, 2022, said the acquisition would cost about $19-billion. But Auditor-General Karen Hogan’s office said Tuesday it found this figure was based on outdated information and that by 2024, estimated costs had increased to $27.7-billion.
The warplane replacement program also faces significant risks that could jeopardize the introduction of a new fleet of fighters, the Auditor-General found. Construction of two new fighter squadron facilities in Cold Lake, Alta., and Bagotville, Que., to accommodate the F-35s is more than three years behind schedule and the Forces are facing a possible shortage of qualified pilots, the watchdog said Tuesday.
Trimming F-35 order could antagonize Trump as security and trade talks get under way: analysts
Inflation, fluctuations in foreign exchange rates and heightened demand for munitions are three factors have driven up the cost of acquiring the F-35s, the Auditor-General found. The Department of National Defence “was supposed to closely monitor inflation and foreign currency exchange rates because of the potential impact but did not always do so,” it said.
The Office of the Auditor-General said even the updated $27-billion-plus price tag for the F-35s does not include essential Forces infrastructure upgrades and advanced weapons that would add at least another $5.5-billion to the total cost of acquiring the fighters.
Opinion: The solution to Canada’s F-35 fighter jet dilemma? Buy both American and European aircraft

Canada’s current fighter aircraft fleet of CF-18s is reaching the end of its service life and must be replaced in a timely manner to meet operational commitments such as the defence of Canada and North America, the Auditor-General’s office noted. CF-18s are the primary Canadian aircraft assigned to the bilateral North American Aerospace Defense Command and are supposed to be on continuous alert to respond to potential aerial threats to the safety of North America, it said.
The CF-188 Hornet first entered service in the 1980s. The operating life of the Hornets has been extended through a refurbishment initiative known as the Hornet Extension Program, or HEP.
CF-18s are supposed to be gradually withdrawn from service between 2025 and 2032 and replaced with F-35s.
David McGuinty, the Minister of National Defence, said in a statement he takes the auditor general’s findings seriously. He committed to updating Canadians regularly on acquisition projects and blamed the huge cost increases on “external economic conditions driven by the COVID-19 pandemic, including global supply chain disruptions, workforce shortages, and increased inflation and foreign exchange rates.”

The minister did not comment on the ongoing review in his department of whether to reduce the F-35 order. Shortly after Mr. Carney took office in March, he said Ottawa would weigh trimming its F-35 purchase plans to buy an alternative aircraft that would be more cost-effective and could deliver additional industrial benefits domestically instead of sending more dollars to the U.S.

Cancel the contract.
Buy Euro jets and drones.

Advice to the Cons in here: Knock off the negative partisan bullshit and support Carney and Canada. PP sux and is a loser. Unlike in the US, where the biggest asshole wins, we in Canada believe in decent, intelligent choices. We are fortunate that Carney came along and took up the challenge.

Carney had a phone call with Trump a week ago about steel tariffs. After the call Carney announces he's speeding up the 2% of GDP military spending to next year.

Elbows up.

Elbows up.

Those frayed elbow holes of old NATO jerseys are hard to hide. Is it time to think outside the eurobox? What happened in the most recent air war between India-Pakistan?
Rafales vs JT-15. Or PL-15 air to air? Why would Turkey a NATO member defy US and buy the Russian S4?

As I alluded to before, best defence is not to make enemies and to stop poking "perceived" ones. In the desire to maintain w/w hegemony, poke and provoke has been an accepted policy.
Witness Senators Graham & Blumenthal.

Over the past century military budgets have become endless pits; only now they are being challenged by interest payments on the borrowed bucks. The existing stockpile of WMD is more
than enough to blow up the planet many times over; if you can put your head around that vulgar absurdity. So what's the point of more of the same? Saftey?

Meanwhile what should be our primary defense concern, protecting the fragile eco-envelope of planet earth, is going to hell in a handbasket.

Carney at least has taken the first timid step by inviting countries beyond the pale of the western club of G7; for which he is being shellacked. However, pusillanimous Anita could only
find the courage to sanction two bozos for their rhetoric on the Occupied West Bank. What, ho!! And the GENOCIDE IN GAZA? Can't do, can't do. The same old b.s.

"We support Israel".

Only morons believe it was actually beneficial to anyone.

Liberals support violence, terrorism and anarchy because Trump hurts their feelings and that's enough justification for them to start looting Nike stores.

Carney won because Trump wanted him to.
Carney has dropped the retaliatory tariffs as planned.
Carney will now support the US by purchasing military weapons from them and buying into the Golden Dome with money he doesn't have.
Carney will support the US on military campaigns globally.

Carney will say whatever he needs to so that his headline-reading supporters keep swallowing what he's peddling and they can feel warm & fuzzy.

That is the reality. Elbows up!

You seem confused as usual.
Trump is President of the US and his EOs do not apply to Canada.
DEI is alive and well in Canada and the American corporations that have done away with DEI are not the biggest employers here.

Wrong.

What sparked the unrest?
Everything began on Friday when Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers executed search warrants at multiple locations, including outside a clothing warehouse in the city's fashion district.

A judge had found probable cause that the employer was using fictitious documents for some of its workers, according to representatives for Homeland Security Investigations and the US Attorney's Office.

A tense scene unfolded outside as a crowd tried to block agents from driving away.
