Then what's the damn point of playing this game at all? Just keep rebuilding and getting prospects? In light of your pessimistic Blue Jay views you show towards this team and although you like to poke fun at me for suggesting we sign Bellinger or Santander, don't forget to also poke fun at the fact that I've said more than once over the past two years that Barger is someone that needs to be here now and I saw something special in this guy. Lol I'm joking. I'm not trying to toot my own horn.

This team has a lot of chemistry from people that were basically journeyman, except now only having a chance to prove themselves at this level… Plus, Springer is having a good year and is a great leader… If Vlad turns it on, and then imagine Santander provides a late season boost...this team will be very dangerous. I wouldn't touch the OFFENCE with a 10 foot pole.

Why on earth would you want to waste all of this and be a seller at the trade deadline?

I'm not a pessimist, Philip. I'm a realist. Regardless of any moves they make, the Blue Jays will not advance beyond the Wild Card round this year. To me, going all in to try to sneak in as the fifth or sixth seed is a recipe for future disaster.

Play for this year, and you get essentially nothing in return for Bichette, Bassit and Scherzer, and you're stuck with Gausman and Springer on expiring contracts next year.

As of right now, the Jays are eighth in the AL in run differential. That's often a better indicator of true performance than won-lost record.

If i wanted to get rich in the near future, I'd invest in stocks which are under priced with a high upside to increase in value. I wouldn't buy a handful of scratch lottery tickets. What you see as optimism is, to me, gullibility. The Jays would win the World Series this year, if this was a Disney movie made for a 'family' audience, ie: little kids. it won't happen in real life.

Their record in 2015 after 87 games:48-39, when they won AL East, just say'n.

The only player we're gonna get good long-term value for is Bo.
All the other ones you listed are mid 30's and you wont get much value in return.

On a side note, has anyone else noticed Bichette doesnt look very happy in Toronto??
He just seems disinterested to me :confused:

For a couple of years now. Actually, he seems more into it this year than he did 2 years ago. Maybe it's because he knows he's out of here at the end of the season.
