You didn't watch the video I guess. It was an impaired driver. Happened at 4:30 am.
I did but missed the 1st 3-4 seconds where she mentioned it..

I have off and on over the years been on site doing overnight road construction contract administration.
The best contractors at the pre shift tailgate conferences mention not to trust that you are working inside a road closure.
Nut bars of all sorts always seem to find a way in and are convinced they have a right to be there.
The best time was about two decades ago at about 1:30 in the morning.
One guy weaves around the crash truck at the road closed sign and crash truck guy hollered watch out on the radio.
When the intruding guy stopped when flagged down. Then after being told to get out of the car, he started off again.
Nearly running down the site super that was at the drivers side window.
Crew radios sqaucked all over the site..
The intruders pickup was quickly squashed against a stopped dump truck by the swift and exact placement of an excavator bucket.
Excavator operator had been eyeing the scene and set the bucket at an angle a vehicle impact could not hurt the joint or hydraulics.
Then he dropped the bucket to set teeth into the top layer of asphalt.
It was kind of like watching a slow speed full sized version of pinball when the truck bounced off of that bucket.
OPP turned up smiling and asked the crew to move the pinning gear.
So they could get to the guy and do a road side breath test.
He failed and after that the cops looked after the person mess.
Flagged a flat bed tow truck into the site to take the pickup away.
That operator was laughing a ton on hearing how the truck ended up looking so beat on body wise.

We had a guy ..about 2 years ago run our closure..took out 1 of my colleagues..both legs gone at the knees..always tell my guys ..ALWAYS face traffic regardless of closure
I used to live near the corner of Windermere Ave and The Queensway. There's a long section of The Queensway running west from Parkside Drive with no traffic lights. Late night street racing was a frequent occurrence.
There's also a stop for the Queen streetcar at Windermere, with a short fence between the platform and The Queensway. One time a guy hit the fence and turned his car upside down. I heard the accident, and went out to see the aftermath.
Three or four cops were there, writing in there notebooks. The guy in the car was screaming in pain, but dealing with that was a paramedic's job, and they hadn't shown up yet.

Familiar with that stretch for sure. I spent several years in the Bloor West Village area. Cops patrol that more at night now.
