Not quite in Montreal. For her opening match she went against a teenager with flashes of Iga.

The surface at Jarry Park is faster than Flushing Meadows.
She beat Joint early in the DC open, I assume Leylah was short on recovery time. Its a shame. DC was such a success for her.

Victoria Mboko continues her incredible run on the Challenger circuit. She has won all 4 tournaments she’s entered this year. Her match record is 20-0. Guess how many sets she has dropped along the way? Zero. 40-0 in sets. Yes, this is not against the top competition, but bear in mind that she is only 18. She will be moving up in the rankings and possibly gaining entry to the higher echelon tournaments on the WTA, so we will soon find out if she is Canada’s next great player.
I guess we did find out after all.

Ben Shelton did pretty good too! (y)(y)(y)

I wonder if a club player could keep the racquet in his hand when trying to return Ben's 232+ km/h serve?

Jarry Park plays much faster than Flushing Meadows, I didn't think she would get past Rybakina. An 18 year old shouldn't be able to defend break points like she does. Hopefully she can stay healthy and win several Majors.

My enthusiasm for the Canadian Open was dampened by The Big Two not being in Toronto.
