Absolutely this. Although, if he survives, I could see him doubling down on his pro-guns-for-all (except trans people) stance. Ronald Reagan went all pro-gun after he was shot in 1981, and guns were less of a hot-button issue than today.Yup, guns and shooting people has become the de facto American political statement.
I know this guy was a Second Amendment supporter and said a few deaths a year are worth the price of the 2nd Amendment. but I still think him getting shot is absolutely wrong.
Even if a disillusioned Republican shot him, it's still wrong.
I hope he makes it. Especially because I'd like to hear his position on the Second Amendment after getting shot, likely over politics.
Which brings me to the irony of the Second Amendment.
On it's face, among other things, the Second Amendment was passed to ensure that the citizens have the ability to fight back in case the government deploys the military against the people. Kind of like how Trump is deploying the military against the people of the United States.
All this said, I'd be surprised if he pulls through. The still photo I saw showed what looked to be a large amount of blood on the left side of his neck. My guess is it went right through the carotid artery.
