No, he was arguing that in order for people to have their second amendment right, there were always be people who are going to abuse that right and murder people.
It's similar to to alcohol. We get to enjoy alcohol, but there's always going to be people that abuse it, get in their car while drunk, and take out a family.
From what I've seen of his videos, he always argued that guns are for self-defense only. And that they act as a deterrent if somebody decides to rob your home.
But the negative side of the freedom to own firearms, is that you're going to get school shootings and other types of mass shootings

I've been arguing for a while that gun control proponents themselves lack empathy; they aren't actually advocating for increased public safety, they're using incidents like this as "gotchas" to score political points.

Yes, I'm stating that Charlie was a victim of his own ideology by advocating that gun crimes are the price his preferred society has to pay for the 2nd amendment. He himself accepted that he could end up a victim in that instance. And by extension was willing to pay that price for his own ideology.

But it is 100% wrong, without reservation, to say that people's deaths are acceptable, to preserve a constitutional right, that does not even satisfy a basic need for anyone.

They are hoping to reduce gun incidents. That gun advocates won't even consider background checks, limiting types, storage laws, says they WANT TO USE THEM.
By not advocating for responsibility in gun ownership, you license irresponsible usage. And a society will pay a price.
