Erika Kirk, the widow of Charlie Kirk, spoke for the first time since he was assassinated on Wednesday. She delivered her remarks from the Turning Point USA headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. In her message, she vowed to continue her husband's work, and spoke of his love for his country and family.

She's got his chair right beside her during this whole speech...That's a powerful look.

I am wondering if you can characterize someone who hated half his country as someone who loved his country.

I actually think it wasn't a "side". I think it was a pox on both sides but Kirk is the first, handiest target. And big enough.
Given the gamer culture stuff, this remains a serious possibility.
Yes, the hints toward groyper are strong, but far from definitive, and "shoot a political figure to be famous" has a long tradition in the USA.

Just to add, except every Boomer on Medicare, social security and other assists. Every FEMA recipient. Every farmer with subsidies, bank bailed out, 2008 business bailed out......want more?
Jalimon wants a more expanded government in the U.S. You probably do too.
He's pretty much a universal everything guy.
It's one of our key differences with Western Europe.

I think everyone knows the U.S. and Canada are not totally capitalist countries. Thanks for the political lesson anyway.

AN UNPRECEDENTED MOMENT IN NFL HISTORY: Detroit Lions icon Barry Sanders left the league in silence when he asked for a moment of remembrance for Charlie Kirk.

Fighting back tears, Sanders declared: “The loss of a voice like his is a tragedy for this nation. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones. This moment reminds us that life is fragile and we must stand together to uphold the values we share.” Kirk — a husband and father of two — passed away at the age of 31. Sanders, himself a father, said: “I cannot imagine that emptiness. I feel it deeply.” Moments later, Sanders made an extraordinary promise to support Charlie’s two children

So the churches act as islands of socialism?
So you support the idea that governments should contribute to church social programs?

Clever but churches approach social programs much differently than government. Not to mention, Socialism is a way to organize a government and is mandated by law.

Saying someone will be replaced is not the same as saying they aren't talented. They still also might be exceptional and someone else exceptional will follow him. Another tell is how the organization Turning Point survives without its founder. If it's built to survive his death, that is a Kirk accomplishment.
I agree with this.

He was far from indispensable, but just because someone will fill that space to some degree doesn't mean they will do it as well.

The progressive zealots think that all of us who are saddened by his death and the vitriol here were completely down with everything Kirk supported. That is far from the truth. I would feel the same way if someone harmed AOC a young star on the left. She's a good progressive comp for Kirk. She started young and didn't have a lot of accomplishments outside political activism. Sadly, AOC has had to beef up her security.
You say that now, but there are people who will be doubtful.
There has been a noticeable increase in political violence since 2021. {Fixed Typo}
For the most part, I have not noticed the right wing (in general) lamenting this. (Whether you have been consistent on the subject I don't remember and is somewhat beside the general point, since you weren't only talking about yourself here.)
Even in this thread, you initially broached the subject implying it was primarily a problem of the left being too tolerant of political violence. not a general concern.

It might be worth looking back at the assassination of those Democratic state senators or the attack on Pelosi's husband by someone waiting for the chance to attack her and see what people were saying.
That might offer some insight about how people would view the murder of AOC.
