I understand, but when nothing else is working… It would be nice if he gave his starters a little faith. He doesn't need to have such a short hook in the playoffs.

When runs are at a premium, you're even more focused on keeping the other team from scoring more runs. They obviously thought that bringing in a new pitcher was the best way to to that. If you really want to question a decision, you should question why they didn't walk Polanco. That's a debate worth having, IMO.
Now we are going to circle again. Schneider did not need to make that move based on his track record of early hooks of starters in the postseason. It would be nice to see him trust his starter to get through a jam at least once. Nothing else is working for him so he has nothing to lose by showing a little faith. Like I said many pages ago… Based on his previous track record in the postseason on how quick he pulls his starters and scrutiny he has been under for past decisions he should be walking on eggshells at this point… But he's not. He's a nice guy, but his ego takes over in the bright lights of the postseason.

Ya, I'm over it. Managers will always be second-guessed - they're either too quick to pull the pitcher or they leave them in too long. I wouldn't compare pulling Berrios to any of the games in this post-season, but that's just me.

so cool I just watched the return of a 40 year-old Dave Stieb from 1998 on YouTube after a five year layoff. He threw three shutout innings to end the game. Tim Johnson was the manager and commentating was a much younger sounding Buck Martinez and Dan Shulman. This was a TSN broadcast.

As I like to say(sarcastically), if you're going to blow the game let the starter blow it instead of bringing in a cold reliever to blow it. Unless of course you have a very reliable bullpen, which the Jays don't have. It's decent, but not the most reliable.

This is the playoffs so early pulls are required, unlike the season where you need the length of a starter to reserve the bullpen and you lean to give the hot starter 3 times through the lineup even when they have good a few solid contacts at bats against them. But only if you have the bulls in the pen, and we do not. Never have.
I wonder if putting Trey in the pen was ever considered now that Bassitt and Scherzer are back?
Use Guassmn as relief until game 7 ? Or do you try to 3 starts out of him?
