Just as some will applaud you for standing your ground though, others will think and call you an asshole for it. Just as their rights allow them because they have equal rights too. You can think they are mentally ill for claiming to be trans and they can think you are an asshole for not having empathy.
I’ll take it a different route. Many people think men who pay for sex are mentally ill, are prevents and sexual deviants. They condemn the men for paying for it, for exploiting women, for cheating on their wives. They call them Johns or Tricks or Slobbiest if you are a review board member. The men I know prefer to be called clients or hobbyist. So I call them that. It is no skin off my ass and I don’t judge any man in this industry.
You can call me a hooker or a whore or a prostitute. Or you can call me an escort or sex worker. The choice is yours. Depending on what you call me and in what context will determine what I think of you. If you are calling me a dirty little whore while I have your cock in my mouth, I’m going to wink and smile while looking up at you. If you call me a dirty whore while fighting with me online, I’m going to think you’re an asshole and I will say so.
We all have choices and judgment is one of those choice. That is life. Deal.

I've worked with possibly two such individuals.
The first was an individual post-transition. The individual was a biological woman who went through the process of being a trans male. Although more feminine than a typical male, he was male passing, had a male name, and I only knew him as he/him. He was a friendly resourceful dude.
I'm uncertain about the second individual. I heard through the grape vine that she identified as a man, but she was a biological woman, and for all intents and purposes looked like a woman (lack of makeup and short hair on a woman still looks like a woman). I don't ask people their preferred pronoun, and the individual worked in a different department and I had virtually no interaction with her. But on the two occasions that I did, I referred to her as she/her. So maybe it was just the rumour mill or she didn't see the need to interject over pronouns.
