Most people are not aware of all the little fifedoms built within the system. THings like "hospital rights" dolled out to physicians and partnerships. Didn't DOFO say he was gonna fix it 2 terms ago? Has there been ANY improvement whatsoever?

This was my experience as well.
When it came time to help, they all did a wonderful job and were very professional and prompt.
Including the receptionist if I may add.
I've had plenty interaction with our health care.
My first hand experience is we are lacking not only in labour, but in service and process too.
As I pointed out, Canada is the 4th highest spender on health care, but multi-level/complex health care is severely lacking.
If you're going for day surgery and will be out in a few days/hours, you probably won't see the issues.
And when you complain about the process or experience, you are swept under the rug. It's almost impossible to complain. It is like a mafia.
No doubt. Family doctors are spending more time on administrative tasks and less time seeing patients. My doctor for instance is part of a family health team that also serves as a teaching practice. If I call today and say I'd like to make an appointment to see my doctor I'd have to wait 3 weeks. Book a physical that's 3-4 months.
For a simple mri , CT scan , wait time is 5 months in GTA. Too many people.
I'll tell you what's driven doctors out of the province more than anything they are operating on a fee schedule that is over 10 years old! In the meantime the province has given them a small temporary increase here and there and then finally a decent 9.95% bump up for January to March 2025 but now its back to the old schedule of benefits for the foreseeable future.
Or they can get a referral to Buffalo and get the scan within a week. Our system is broken. And the left's answer is to throw more money at it without solving the underlying issues.
My doctor works with a team and rotates walk-in hours. If he is working today between 11-2, I call in the morning and get put on his list and come in for 11. Getting same day or next day is easy.
Booking an actual physical is only a couple of weeks. Speciality referrals are usually 3-6 months.

You're very lucky. That's not the norm.
A sign at my doctor's said they get $37 per appointment from the province and from that they pay their office and admin overhead as well as themselves.
Another option is finding a smaller center with an MRI that's not as busy as the Toronto or GTA in general. Send the form.

As someone who had a "major malfunction in my primary systems", I was hospitalized and had a CT Scan and 2 MRIs within a week to save my life. When I tell people that they're shocked!
Our healthcare DOES work. We have great doctors and nurses. It's the system, as many have already mentioned, that needs work. Lots of politics. Fifedoms. And egos!
Imagine having dropped hundreds of thousands on education, ten years of the prime of your life studying in an in demand field and this is what you get.
Damn Provinces who get some generous benefits from The Federal Government do squander it on other projects including Private Healthcare rather than using the funds more prudently!!
