Biggest loser of the election, Canadians. Second biggest loser was the NDP, losing party status, but somehow they will be able to continue to leverage their small number to push their agenda through the Liberals. That is, if they can find a leader amongst their 7 MPs. Carney's acceptance speech lacked any inspirational vibes and he came across as a monotone low energy speech and taking a swipe at Poilievre was classless, but knowing Carney it was typical of his style. I predict Canada isn't going to be on a happy path under his leadership.
Right!? He’s so
tepid. I thought I was the only one underwhelmed by his comportment and demeanour. Even his gesticulations lack the decisiveness of a politician. His handshake is probable cold, limp, and flaccid.
Libs tried to sell him as the right man to “manage” Trump. Trump has to be
emotionally managed everyone knows that. Big fancy finance backgrounds don’t impart emotional intelligence or charisma.
FIRST thing he did was lie to everyone about a critical part of his phone call with Trump. He had to explain why he purposely omitted that Trump had referred to us again as the 51st state. When asked if he was being dishonest, he just half-heartedly handwaved it and said “Well Trump says a lot things that he likes to circle back on…?” and shrugged. Limply and dispassionately.
He didn’t even disclose what he said in response to that, and was vague and obfuscating. He probably didn’t say anything back to Trump, and just awkwardly sidestepped it while Trump took mental notes about how hard he should poke him next time, lol. I can honestly imagine it in my head. Cringeworthy.
I would really prefer we had someone more spirited (like Pierre!) advocating for our country, especially to Trump, who is probably gleefully testing the PM’s boundaries.
Carney practically has complete flat affect when he isn’t speaking , face completely slack, eyes dull — he’s got the emotional expressiveness of drywall! I was startled when I saw a photo of him genuinely laughing. I was convinced he was an automaton, or p-zombie, or something else lifeless masquerading as a man.
His eyes are so opaque too, it makes me not trust him, because it’s hard to get a read on him. Behind his eyes it’s just the abyss, void all the way down. Not really the makings of a leader. But hey, his resume made the boomers feel safe, so. He has that going for him.
Pierre is prickly but I like that. He comes across as very transparent to me and forthright to me.
Carney is going to just make Canada look even more feeble to Trump. Why would they think Trump gives a single shit about this man’s finance background? Trump is going to trample this guy, lol.
