I was not going to watch the man of steel but since DC comics will follow Marvel in creating a shared universe i will see man of steel




As if Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel didn’t have enough weight on its shoulders, anyone watching the superhero genre knows that DC and Warner Bros. are hoping the film sets the stage for the rest of their iconic characters. Rumors even claimed that not only was a Justice League movie in development, but Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale were attached, and David S. Goyer would continue penning the super-scripts.

Speaking about Man of Steel, Warner Bros. president Jeff Robinov has now explained that Nolan is most certainly not attached to a Justice League film (without confirming or denying its existence in the process). But that doesn’t mean the studio isn’t moving towards a shared universe for the rest of DC’s heroes. As he sees it, Goyer, Nolan and Snyder have all created a Superman universe that leaves plenty of room for other heroes to inhabit.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly as part of the magazine’s spoiler-filled exclusive coverage, Robinov made sure not to overstate the studio’s intentions concerning Superman and the rest of DC’s catalogue. For starters, explaining that Man of Steel would set the tone for the type of superhero movies the studio intends to make; in that sense, preparing audiences for more heroes, but not featuring cameos or ‘set-ups.’

pretty much don't care about DC trying to get their own shit off the ground. are we in for another round of origin movies. i seen rumours that batman is already up for a reboot. this will make how many superman "franchises". it's bullshit. pick up where the last movie left off.

Superman has other weaknesses besides Kryptonite, he is vulnerable to magic and will lose his powers if not exposed to the sun. And within the DC universe there are enemies who are as powerful, or moreso than him.

i know all that. i just really dislike superman lol. his movies are boring and predictable but i am always forced to watch them.

Didn't hear anything about that from CM, so it really couldn't have been that bad. He got his panties in a knot when a black actor was cast as Geneviere in Merlin.

I'm sure it was mainly as a favor for his old armaggedon buddy. As well as the phone it in paycheck.
But I actually thought the choice wasn't too bad. He is a decent actor and of anyone in hollywood he fit the physical profile the best. But god what a horrible script and filming job.

As for the movie itself its the character as a modern hero that's the issue. We want our heroes to be realistic, even flawed. The Superman character at this point is lacking in real conflict possibilities. And not just physically. There is no emotional backstory, or conflict within the character to write a decent story that will engage the modern audience.
In comparison to Batman for stories to tell, or many of the Marvel universe, there just isn't anything there to work with.
The DC universe for some reason tends to do better on television. Maybe they should "game of thrones" them instead. That could lead to a lot of interesting options.

just went and saw iron man 3. it was kind of a let down and i think it was the worst of the 3.

Rumor has it, if this gets off the ground, we wont see any Batman until the Justice League movie where he'll either be a new established character or the less likely chance that it will continues with Gordon Levit from Nolans franchise.
