i think after the lightning take stamkos, this draft will become one of need, and not of taking the best player available.

the only guy who is a real wildcard here, is nikita filatov, as the transfer agreement, or lack of, between russia and the NHL, will scare some teams off.

alot of RFA's availabe for offers, makes me think this list may change many times well before draft day... alot of trading will occur from now till July 10th.

c'mon Pens, nevermind Hossa, Malone and Orpick, please extend Fleury... i'm most certain K.Lo. is salivating over there somewhere on an Edmonton golf course... lol

It will be interesting to see who picks Kyle Beach. Bob Mackenzie has him ranked 10th. I know the Leafs could definately use a guy like him, as they are one of the softest, if not the softest team in the league. I'm not sure I would draft him 7th though.

This is shaping out to be one of the most interesting drafts in a long time.

I agree.

Stamkos. He's not a Crosby or Malkin, but I think he looks to be in a better cohort than Patrick Kane.

geez, some of these kids say the funniest things on draft day. my favorite quote was this one:

"I didn't know the draft was in alphabetical order." - Henrik Zetterberg June 26, 1999

Good draft pick for the buds in Schenn. I just hope Filatov doesn't turn out to be the next super Russian.

What happened here? He didnt even get picked.
7. Boedker, Mikkel LW 5.11 195 L 12/16/89 Kitchener (OHL)
Not sure why, anyone have a guess. I thought he was good.
Not 7 but top 30? Good to see Azecado to LA. Did Boedker ever get drafted, didnt see his name anywhere>
Guyroach, you spoke to soon, they trade a draft for some guy from St.Louis?
The leafs never seem to learn.

You might have missed the draft.

Boedker went early at 8th overall to Phoenix. He was good with Kitchener this year.

I followed it but not sure how I friggin missed this.
Phoenix is always an afterthought for me, but they should have an
up and coming team.

21 pro,
Tyler Cuma is not on your list of the 1st 3 rounds...he went in the 1st round to the Wild. Just an oversight?

late 1st round albeit... sometimes this happens.. of course, the further you get from 1st overall the greater the beta or volatility between rankings and actual picks... happens every year.

btw- these lists were simply copied from central scouting about 20 days prior to the draft. final rankings could have been altered... as i saw, Cuma was ranked by TSN and the Score in the top 25.
