From New York to LA.
The Yankees should buy a hotel in LA, if they win and the Dodgers win their respective LCS, the Yankees will be going back and forth for a month.

Can't understand how a major leaguer like Isturiz can not have the proper thought process in a crucial game. He had to know that was not a double play situation and was just thinking about the lead runner... but that Runner at second or first is irrelevant, when there will be runner will be at third. Therefore, make the easy play at first.

Right when that ball was hit, it was instantaneous for me to say to my TV "just take the out at first".... anyone who has played baseball at a high level can process situations instantly (or should be able to).

Brutal play.

The weather in NYC was brutal (cold, windy, rainy). It was inhuman to force players to play in those conditions:( (and for fans to sit) and the poor quality of play is a reflection of the miserable condition. Go get a roof, Yankees.

MLB jumps the gun

Damn Dodgers! They kept dicking around until they lost the damn game.
They fooled MLB.com too. Just before Rollins delivered the knife in LA's back MLB.com posted a headline saying LA won 4-3 and evened the series. Go to http://www.prestonandsteve.com/
and on the main page they have a section called "The Latest Crap" with a bunch of headline links. One says " Dodgers Fail - Manny's Grab, Clutch hits help Dodgers Tie NLCS - #1 Added 10-20-2009", click on that for a screen capture of MLB.com's gaffe. If you click next on the picture's link there is another shot or 2.

The Phillies showed why they are the World Fucking Champions (thanks Utley) once more with another dramatic come from behind win. Howard sets a new NL record for consecutive postseason games with an RBI and ties Gehrig for the MLB record. Tomorrow he can break the record if LA pitches to him. Which begs the question, why are they even giving him anything to hit?

Cole Hamels goes against Padilla tomorrow as the Phils attempt to wrap it up and save airfare to LA ......

In the AL the Angels of Cali/Anaheim/LA/Baja/Socal/whatever try to tie it up against NY. While I'm pulling for the Angels I'd love for the Phils to cut the Skankees down to size in the WS.

I wish I didn't have to see Pat Sajak and some skanky blonde behind the catcher all night in the Yanks-Angels game.

Seeing Pat there just makes it weird and annoying.

I think 4 of the last 5 Phils got on base via the walk (including 2 hit by pitch). Both hit by pitches barely grazed the batter:(.

We all understand there are close judgment calls that can go either way.

But the calls the Yanks are getting in the playoffs are not even close. That runner at second on the pickoff play was out by a clear foot.

These playoffs are an absolute disgrace.
1) Umpiring is atrocious.
2) Even I can hit HR's in that sandbox call Yankee Stadium,
3) Put a roof on the damn stadium in NYC.
4) The players' on field performance is worse than Little League.

Meet the old boss, same as the old boss

Those classic Who lyrics blasted across Citizen Bank Park tonight as the Phillies finished off the Dodgers 10-4 to return to the WS and defend their World Championship. Same as last year they took out LA in 5 games. The much maligned bullpen came through all series and of course the bats were smokin. Cliff Lee is this year's Hamel so far and Ryan Howard is Ryan Howard. Unfortunately RH did not get an RBI and had his chance to break the consecutive game RBI record fall short. He did however get the MVP trophy for the NLCS. I hope the long layoff won't cool them off too much.

Go Phillies!!!

I think Lackey may be able to extend them another game. And the Phillies aren't some pansy AL club shaking at the sight of NY. LOL

I think you mean "not if there's a salary cap", which there isn't.
If it was a matter of best value for the dollar the Phillies would sweep em. Even with the salary disparity I don't see the Yanks being all that much better, if at all. Not so sure the best team money can buy is the best team with no qualifiers. I like the Phillies everyday lineup better while NY has a edge in pitching. But we all know what the Phils did to CC last year. He can't be thrilled to see them again, if they make it.

While I'm rooting for LA I really want to see the Yankees get blasted by the Phils. Nothing like seeing NY fans cry ..... just ask the Mets fans about the Phillies. :p

AJ "burns it" to the tune of 4 Angel runs before the first out in the bottom of the 1st. Currently still 4-0 Halos.:p

Tell you what the Phillies have done an excellent job of building this squad. Brilliant job by there GM's over the last few years.

C - Stuck by a good catcher who si cheap who is underrated because of his good OBP. Did not waste dollars on a perceived upgrade

1b, 2b, ss - great homegrown talent

3b - Feliz is the weakspot of the order, below average / average 3b, but not huge investment at $3M

OF - Victorino and Werth, were brilliant acquisitions in picked up off the scrap heap. Victorino in the Rule 5 Draft, Werth as a minor league free agent a few years ago.

The only major acquisition was IBanez - a bargain at $8 million especially when you consider he was putting up numbers at a tough hitters park, a "young" 37 as he was a spare player until 30

More impressive was there decisions not to overpay Burrell or Rowand the last few years... Rowand had a career year in 2007, and was overpaid by the Giants.... In this offseason they smartly chose Ibanez over Burrell.

Bench is good. No duplication of parts... everbody has there clearly defined roles.

Starting Staff was also built admirably. Nice homegrown talent in Hamels and Happ, and they have not had to rush Drabek. A great job in not vastly overpaying for Halladay, and realizing they could get Cliff Lee for much cheaper - let's not forget Lee was far superior in 2008. A low dollar risk in Pedro Martinez which has turned out great. Joe Blanton is a great fourth/fifth starter type who did not cost millions or much prospects to acquire.

In there bullpen... Lidge was acquired at his absolute rock bottom from the Astros. (yes - he is struggling this year) Madsen and Eyre are great setup man that were homegrown or acquired for nothing, respectively. 5 Man Deep in Starters creates quality long relief.

Just a great job of combining homegrown talent, with a few solid FA signings and veterans through trade, and picking up guys that other teams did not value much.
