Wow what a match by Williams ... What these woman showed me ( sorry late to the party ) Bouchard doesn't have the strength yet to go toe to toe against these woman ....

Good job by the Americans in this year's grand slam . I think they feed off the energy of the crowd instead of wilting under the preasure like Bouchard ..

Sorry didn't indent this too be a Bouchard bashing but just a observation .

Delpo is finally hitting his stride. Had he shown this form at Wimbledon, I would have been laughing best.

He made his return to tennis at the Olympics and beat Djokovic. I wouldn't put it past him to win his second US Open Championship.

I think he will do it as well. Though Roger wasn't in top form, Delpo did step up his game when Roger upped his after the first, dismal set. He's serving beautifully and cracking that forehand. His match with Rafa has the potential to be a stunner.

I wagered on Delpo and Garbine to win Wimbledon pre-tournament, they seemed like good longshots but I wasn't expecting to win. Had they both come in, the payout would have been niiiiice.

Delpo is a sentimental favorite, he's the closest a somewhat Italian man to win a Slam. That's something I don't understand, there are more tennis courts in Italy than soccer pitches. Not sure why a world class Italian hasn't broken through in my lifetime?

Nice to see some new blood in the Women's Final. Madison Keys and Sloane Stephens are two nice personalities as well as talented players. I think Stephens is one of the prettiest players on tour as well.

Delpo ran out of gas, the irony is that Shapo beat them both. US Open 2018, the road to the championship will run through Shapo's turf.

The women's final is intriguing, both have been erratic in their development. Keys has more weapons but Stephens is the better athlete. I'm happy that The Ugly American had a meltdown (what else is new) against Keys, bad sportsmanship should never be rewarded.

Watched the women's final. Actually the post match events and interviews were more interesting. SS made only 6 unforced errors the whole match. Her first GS final but obviously there were no nerves.

Both of them seem like lovely girls and really good friends. Keys cried in Sloan's arms as they hugged at the net for at least 30 seconds right after and then Sloan finally broke down when she hugged her mom. Both were gracious in the interviews and when SS received her cheque her eyes got wide and all she could say in disbelief was "That's a lot of money." and then Keys offered to hold it for her.

Looking for an upset tomorrow.

The better athlete won, Keys has unlimited power but she moves like Milos.

As for the men's final, it was never in doubt. Raffa thrives against very tall men, as long as he kept Anderson moving it was a foregone conclusion. Had he played Shapo, it would have gone five sets. Raffa got his vowels back, he is again Rafael Nadaaaaaaaal.

Oh, the things I want to do with Sloan...

Roger and Rafa meet in the final of the Shanghai Masters tomorrow (ATP 1000 event). It's a tough one to call. Roger looks fully recovered from his back injury and looked good today in coming from behind to beat Delpo. I have to give the edge to Rafa as he's been lights out in the second half of this year and will no doubt be pumped to end his four match losing streak to Roger. Given their age (especially Roger) there can't be too many of these match-ups left. Hope it lives up to the billing and Roger prevails!

Easy pickings for Roger. It seems that on a hard, fast court Rafa has no answers for Roger. No doubt it would be quite the opposite on clay. Amazing how the court surface can have such a dramatic effect on the outcome.

I do think playing in that Laver Cup and back to back tournaments may have contributed to the result today .. Saying that loved Roger won and 2017 still up for grabs . I heard Nadal taking a break to nurse some injuries

Wow. Injuries in men's tennis. That's got to be a first! Seriously, I did notice Rafa had his right knee taped so I guess that bothering him again. Read somewhere that courts with relatively low bounces get to him because of all the bending involved. Hence why he loves the high bounce at the French.

Also on the injury front I believe Krygios had to pull out earlier in the tournament.

A few minor niggles apparently.

Who would have thought Federer would be the 'last man standing'.

These last few months, with so many of the top players out, should have been a great opportunity for some of the younger guys to have broken through but sadly none have.

Future doesn't look great.

Perhaps this just speaks to what special talents the Big 4 were and may still be for a couple more years.
