Does anyone have anyexperience as a customer of 3web for home Internet over cable.

https://highspeed.3web.com/english/HighSpeedSignup/goldCableEast.jsp

I appears that the price is:
$9.95 for first 3 months, then $29.95/m

Plus ontime expense of:
$99.99 modem
$24.95 shipping
$15 to $83 installation fee
Total onetime expense: 139.94 to 207.94

Is there a minimum time period contract contract?
What are your experiences with 3web in general?
Thanks.

I had used them way back with dial up connection. Back then it was free, however, there was a window banner that would open up with advertisment. Obviously, that's how they'd made their revenues. You couldn't close the window and it would always appear on-top of you browser. What I did was move the window to the bottom of the screen so I could not most of it anymore.

Overall, I had no problems with them. Connection was stable but was slowed down a bit because of the advertising. I found them reputable, but surpised they are not doing the same method with hi-speed (making it free, using advertisments to pay for the connection)

Hey I use 3web Highspeed DSL...no charges...I also have an extra dsl modem Broadmax I can sell you if you want...$75...(as I had 2 accounts at one point (one for work and one for home)..with the great use of wireless routers I now have scaled down to one)....I have been a 3web customer for 1.5 years..never a problem...internet is always speedy and up...not a bad word to say.
Also it didn't cost me a penny to sign up, downloaded the software, asked bell to switch my line and 3web did the rest...took a few weeks because 3web uses Bell's lines...but one I got up and running it was great...

I would strongly suggest 3web...get away from Bell and rogers and $40+ a mont.

I too use 3web and have for many years back on dial-up to the DSL now. You describe a start-up cost including a modem but I remember when I switched up to DSL that I just picked a rental scheme of $5/month instead as I didn't have the $100 for the modem. I didn't have to pay any shipping nor installation fees that I recall (I did buy the installation pack from Staples for $20) and have had no problems to speak of.

If you're so worried about the cost of the cable version, why not just get the DSL version instead?
