They got the dude the police believe... was some hockey nut, lol

MEDFORD, N.Y. (AP) -- A 33-year-old man described by neighbors as polite and friendly was arrested Wednesday in connection with the deaths of four people who were shot at a pharmacy during a robbery for painkillers.

David Laffer, who a few years ago proposed to his then-girlfriend at a New York Islanders hockey game, was led out of his brown and yellow ranch-style home in handcuffs Wednesday as neighbors watched. He was later arrested, said Jack Eddington, chairman of the Suffolk County Legislature's public safety committee.

The charges against Laffer hadn't been announced as of late Wednesday afternoon, and it wasn't clear when he would be arraigned. He said nothing as he was led from police headquarters and was later hospitalized. Officials refused to comment on his condition.

His arrest capped a massive manhunt for the suspect, who was captured on surveillance footage as a tall, gaunt, bearded man wearing glasses, a white baseball cap and a hooded sweatshirt.

The gunman was bent on stealing painkillers, officials said. The victims were shot at very close range.

About 30 to 40 officers converged on Laffer's Long Island home before he was brought out, said Peter Spano, who was working on the lawn next door. A woman believed to be his wife also was led away. Authorities had no details on whether she faced charges.

Spano said the thin, "distraught" man resembled the man in the surveillance photos, except without a beard.

What i don't like about just the video is there is no audio.....I wounder why he flip out, maybe he is a nut..well he is no matter what but I have to wounder what all went down, what if any words were spoken.

Like get the heck out of my store you doper, you aren't getting anything from here..from that pharmacist Raymond Ferguson, 45,

i don't know, i do know some jerks flip out sometimes what you say--not blaming the victims, trying to think what might have happen.

I guess those dope centers--i mean pharmacist, lol need to be more like banks and gas stations with that bullet proof glass...you Canadians don't see that often but here near Detroit (and every store in Detroit) have a glass cage the people "hide" behind. You slip money and goods by doorways or under the glass. Very common but not at the medicine stores over here, in Detroit yep, U bet hmmm, guess it might be coming to more towns, that bullet proof glass

Because NYC( the most populated area in the USA) needs more armed people?...SMH....i'm glad i live here.
I was visiting NYC circa 1995 when the news media reported a robbery at a shoe store. Two robbers were holding 20 staff and customers hostage. The robbers made the women remove their clothing and one of the robbers proceeded to rape one of the women. Brutal!

But that is more logical, their butts were going to jail--forever, might well have one last get go, what is he going to get, 200 years in prison, not 100 years, lol

These tougher crime laws do have their drawbacks, we got the same here in Michigan, armed robbery--even 1st time, no criminal record, is still up to life in prison, with 15--25 years pretty common if nobody got hurt but holding 20 people (now we got kidnapping, another life term) and they likely had a record, they were gone for "life", at least they didn't kill anybody......

This guy, check this out again,

David Laffer, whose marriage proposal a few years ago to his then-girlfriend at a New York Islanders hockey game was shown on large TV screens, was led out of his brown and yellow ranch-style home in handcuffs as neighbors watched. He was arrested on charges of first-degree murder and resisting arrest, according to Suffolk County Police. He was being held overnight at the Fifth Precinct and was scheduled for arraignment Thursday, police said....................

So he became some type of media hero cause of his BS way of asking his GF to marry him....

That is a BS way if it really happen,,,the first time he asked her...like put her right on the spot so its really hard to say no or not yet....but media--screwed up media thought it was cute....i wounder how many still think this guy is cute?
...............

You know what, you got it....http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/06/2...pharmacy-gunman-has-no-prior-criminal-record/

Laffer, who has no prior criminal record, met his wife in 2005 through mutual friends.

"The two hit it off instantly and have been together ever since," according to a 2009 newspaper wedding announcement. Laffer later proposed while at a New York Islanders hockey game.

"It was quite overwhelming," Brady said, according to the announcement. "I was so surprised and everyone was watching."

But media reports suggest Brady developed a prescription drug addiction and is suspected of being the getaway driver in the pharmacy robbery. Laffer is said to have recently lost his job.

"She wasn't sweet and innocent anymore. She'd talk really weird and fast about how she has to be taking all these pills," Joanne Martino, who knows Brady, told the Post.

In addition, Laffer's Facebook page lists a semi-automatic handgun -- the Springfield XD -- as one of his "activities and interests," alongside a Long Island-based photography company.
