Hey Hey :p

One in 5 Americans say they desire to leave and move permanently to another country, a figure almost twice as high as when Gallup started asking the question in 2008

A new Gallup poll has found that in the past two years, more Americans want to leave their country than at any other time in the past two decades. And young women are more than twice as likely to want to get out than young men, with 40 per cent saying they’d like to go.

Canada remains the preferred destination for younger American women looking to leave, with 11 per cent of those since 2022 naming it as their top destination, ahead of New Zealand, Italy and Japan, all at five per cent.

The Washington, D.C. based pollster notes in its survey that the question asks about desire to migrate, so the findings reflect that rather than intentions. “Still, the data indicate that millions of younger American women are increasingly imagining their futures elsewhere,” it says.
In all, one in five Americans say they would like to leave the U.S. and move permanently to another country, a figure almost twice as high as when Gallup started asking the question in 2008.

But the split between the sexes is widening. Among men aged 45 and older, just eight per cent indicate a desire to leave. Women in that age group are more likely than men to want to go, with 14 per cent saying yes.

The divide among younger Americans is even more stark. Of men aged 15 to 44, just 19 per cent said they wanted to leave their homeland. But for women in that age bracket the number was 40 per cent, down from 44 per cent the year before, but up from just 29 per cent in 2023.

The report noes that the percentage of younger women wanting to move to another country first rose decisively in 2016, the final year of U.S. President Barack Obama’s second term. That year, Gallup surveyed the U.S. in June and July, after both parties’ presumptive nominees were set for the November election, which Donald Trump went on to win.

“Desire to migrate continued to climb afterward, hitting 44 per cent in President Joe Biden’s last year in office and remaining near that level in 2025,” the report notes. “This suggests a broader shift in opinion among younger women, rather than a solely partisan one.”

Will never understand anyone who thinks living in Canada is better than the states. Not to shame lower end jobs or blue collar folk, but Canada is only great for labor and low end jobs. Engineers, doctors, lawyers, nurses. Anything that requires at least a post secondary degree, you are far better off in the states. Why tf would you come to a poorer version of your country? I'm in my 40s now which is too late but once my kids get older and graduate, I'd want them to move to the states. People who say the American dream is dead are brain dead. You'd notice those people have no good jobs and the only person responsible for their lives failures is themselves.
So many opportunities you can't get here.

Harsh, but a lot of truth there. If the government gives you everything (and we have some advocates for such on this very thread), you are less motivated to strive and adapt.

Don't tell me we don't witness this in our own families and circles. Young people who are disincentivised because they have had everything handed to them by families, schools and society.

Trad wifing and anti abortion BS.
Absolutely. And if you read the roadmap of the maga`s (project 2025), the absolute worst is coming.

I am not a big fan of young Americans screaming 'your body my choice' ...
I'm sorry but you two are spreading outdated propaganda. Jalimon in your special case I know you lack the intellectual curiosity to investigate media propagation. mandrill you should know better but you have a hard on for the U.S.

U.S. abortions are higher than they were when the Supreme Court gave the States authority over abortion in 2022. Telemedicine has made the whole issue completely moot. More and more U.S. abortions are being administered remotely with mail order prescriptions. Not to mention, many women just go to a neighboring less restrictive state if they so choose.

Honestly, I don't know what to do with people on social media who consistently overdramatize or deliberately mislead.

Canada is objectively a better country to live in than the US.
It is constantly rated above the US for quality of life, freedoms, democratic values etc. Infact, Canadian median wealth is greater than the US.
Incomes may be higher, but money isn't everything.
One chronic disease later, you find yourself without insurance, broke and homeless with Wyatt screaming in your ear to pull yourself up by the bootstraps and get to work! lmfao.

Yes US abortions are probably higher due to a higher population.
But women would want to go to a clinic, see a proper doctor and get an abortion the safe and sane way and not through "TeLeMeDiCiNe".

Ah yes, that libertarian, Ayn Rand, adapt or die, mentality,
I prefer the 'we take care of our own' kind of society.

I guess you haven't been paying attention. AI is about to kill off a crapload of professional jobs. They are predicting the end of entry level positions, including articling as a lawyer. Watch as doctors are replaced with diagnostic machines. A good portion of engineering could also be toast. A crap ton of mid level management positions are on the chopping block.

Want your kids to be successful? Trades. The world will still need repair people and builders, who can walk into houses and businesses, get down on their knees or back and fix that leak, install that new dishwasher, run that wiring, drywall, paint, baseboard trim.

The rich are already discussing population lowering.
