This is really getting out of hand
Another new area code going up just west of GTA (Guelph, Cambridge, KW, London etc)

GTA (Toronto) already has 6 area codes in service (without cheating and looking below do you know them all? :) ) and the 7th is due to launch next year

Waddaya expect? With everyone having 2 or 3 numbers... (Home line, cell # and hobby phone for those of us that need a "secret phone".)

And the fact that every teenager in North America also now has a cell...

The need for more numbers increases on an exponential level.

Makes perfect sense if you ask me...

Not to mention that every data device (internet stick, LTE tablet, etc.) needs a phone number associated to it as well...

Yeah, in total between work, mobile, data device, home, fongo number for booking SP, old mobile number I forward to new, couple of voip services, I have about seven phone numbers now. Easy to see how they run out. Not that I use them all, but they are assigned.

Most people have at least three, work/home/mobile.

I thought most people were getting rid of their domestic land line

The other problem with this was the North America numbering plan predicted we will run out of numbers by 2050
At this rate it will come sooner

That will be a major cluster fuck to fix (imagine if everyone in Canada/US/Caribbean etc suddenly needs to dial an extra digit for a number or worse if area codes are reassigned and people lose old numbers)

New York?
(I used to have a NY number but changed to MI because far better rates & all US numbers are cross country)
All NY 212 mobile numbers turned into 917's at some point and now the 917's themselves are hard to get. I ported out to a forwarding service and just have it redirecting to my 416 mobile number now.

when I was a kid we had 1 telephone & 1 number. now in my house there are 2 landlines one with ident a call ( so that's 3 numbers) there's 2 cell phones, and 3 magic jack numbers . total of 8 numbers . the main line that serves the street is at full capacity (at my house anyway) ( some pairs are unusable as they are damaged) so I'm not sure what Ma Bell plans to do if anyone wants another number
