Most of the killjoys are unknown leftists, but the genocide theory of Thanksgiving may now be official dogma at MSNBC, which is a notch or two above “unknown.”

Actually, some Indian tribes were victims of genocide. The Iroquois wiped out the Huron, the Erie and others. The Sioux nearly succeeded in their attempt to kill all the Pawnee. The Sioux themselves likely would have been exterminated by the Ojibwa if they had not fled from the forests to the Great Plains. So it is not unreasonable to link the word “genocide” with American Indian tribes.

i could go on and all night. more examples include the Incas, The Caribs who fought against the Arawaks/Tainos and eat them and take their women as wives and sex slaves, a tribe whose name i can't remember on Colombia in the valle de cauca region that practice female genital mutilation since ancient times, etc the natives were not innocent like the PC crowd want the masses to believe.

historical facts and archaeological evidence is not bashing.
The entire world was barbaric. Not one area was exempt. Every historical populace was guilty.

Does that mean no figures prior to at least 1900 should be celebrated?

I really don't give a crap what they call it. I don't celebrate the achievements of a man from hundreds of years ago. And I don't celebrate indigenous peoples. There's nothing great about being indigenous. Greatness comes from personal acts, not affiliation with a particular group. It's the same reason I scoffed when people said what a great day it was for black people when Obama became president. I mean, way to make his presidency all about his skin colour rather than his achievements....

I could say the same thing about the First Nations peoples who raped and murdered homesteaders moving through the western territories to reach the west coast. Their actions should also not be honoured as a holiday.

The City Council of Albuquerque, New Mexico voted six to three on Thursday to recognize October 12 as Indigenous Peoples’ Day.
They are ticked off about having been founded almost a century after Santa Fe and having been named for the Viceroy of New Spain?

Considering Columbus never set foot on US soil...

And I'm sure most people only care that it's a stat holiday.

But yes, many native groups perpetrated just as much wanton violence as European settlers. There were just more European settlers and they were better at it.
