i was thinking about doing some self studying and taking the test to become A+ certified in case the current job i have doesnt work out. any friendly advice? i am relatively tech savvy minus programming skills (tried to learn C and C++ and for the life of me did not understand it) i know A+ cert is just entry level and there are other certs to go for after that but i just want some opinions from other people whom may be in the tech field.

I would go for the A+ cert. if your going to get into the biz. Pretty straightforward exam. Hardware/software split. Mind you, you will have to rewrite the exam after 3 years, that's the way comptia is setup nowadays. I got mine but let it lapse. Also there is also alot of competition out there. Almost every computer shop including the big guys have or should have their A+. Testking is your friend. LOL

Good luck

Many A+ certified out there.

Many who have the certification are committed to the field and have complimentary computer skills in other areas like networking.

Many have also done some schooling specific to the area at schools like Devry and Community Colleges.

A good idea to make yourself more marketable but not sure if A+ alone will do it.

Peter's Luck is different from Paul's though so won't hurt to try.
