Case definitely had a unique r&b voice. This song was released in 2001, produced by Tim and Bob and written by Joe who also did background vocals

"Missing You"

This wasn't the first collaboration between Case and Joe. They teamed up a couple of years earlier on this joint

"Faded Pictures" from the Rush Hour soundtrack. Produced by Darren Lighty and DJ Eddie F.

I wish I was at this concert. Probably back in 2014 at the Metropolis Theatre in London, UK. This is Soul II Soul.

Everything is on point here. Caron Wheeler's vocals. The backup singers are 🔥 too.

We must have been listening at the same time because I heard this as well. Knew the group but had never heard this song before. There were some great girl groups in the 60's but then they dissipated for most of the 70's and 80's only to re emerge massively in the 1990's.

Was going to post this in the "listening to now" thread but this is at the top now, good timing.
Produced by Organized Noize. OutKast and Goodie Mob were pioneers of southern hip hop. Catchy tune.

Teddy Pendergrass circa 1984. After his height in the late 70's and early 80's on Philadelphia International Records. This tune was written and produced by Luther Vandross and Marcus Miller. Some seriously talented personnel were involved with this project

Keyboards: Nat Adderley Jr.
Bass guitar: Marcus Miller
Drums: Yogi Horton
Background vocals: Cissy Houston, Alfa Anderson (from Chic), Tawatha Agee

There are dozens upon dozens of unbelievably great James Brown joints. This one is right up there for me. Sampled in over 450 rap/hip hop songs over the years. The music from 3:30 to about 4:20 is truly 🤯

I cannot believe that something that sounded like this was released in 1970. Truly ground breaking.

i have to admit something...except for his very early stuff like Please Please, or Try Me..i never was a real James Brown fan
and that applies to Stevie Wonder...never got into his music
and except for a couple of songs, never really got into Ray Charles either
there you go...3 giants of the music biz..and not really a fan

Each to their own, ogi.

I have to admit that as much as I loved black music up to about 1995, after that not much at all.

Mind you, that also applies to most post 1995 "white music" as well, other than a few indie and other exceptions such as "The National".

I wouldn't cross the street to see Taylor Swift...

Music is a personal taste. We like what we like. And to tell you the truth even though he's an amazing successful talent, I'm not the biggest Stevie Wonder fan either.

these days some Blues stuff is being recorded by Black artists...but that,s about it....the genre of music that i most loved has disappeared, in fact by that late 70,s it was gone...never to return......just had a thought...what if a hip hop artist decided to cover "I Found A Love" by Wilson Pickett or a mainstream white guy like Wikennd..did i spell it right ?..covered Sam & Dave,s When Something Is Wrong With My Baby.....would be interesting
