Martha was a black lady with a great voice, she but she was plus-sized, with a gnd face, and was considered unsuitable by the record label for the video and live performances.

From Wikipedia:
The song contains uncredited vocals by American singer Martha Wash, who was replaced by French model Katrin Quinol as the credited vocalist who made several appearances with Black Box, which led Wash to file a lawsuit against the group.
I'm not sure I'd call this 'disco' its more house/dance than anything. Borne out of the disco movement mind you. I think I mentioned it before but this was the very first CD I ever owned.

Never heard this one before. I think they would classify this as post disco, even electronic. Thanks for sharing it.

early disco

Wow this definitely has that Philly soul sound. I can see the links to disco now. I don't know what it is about this guy's voice but its incredible to me. So unique yet so soulful.

This is a group I've been meaning to delve into. The Crown Heights Affair. This is a cross of soul, funk and disco.

Disco -> Italo disco-> Post disco/Boogie -> House. This was the rough transition in the late 70's and early 80's.
This track is a good example of the transition. Big in the New York clubs of early 80's. The only ESG song I knew of was "UFO" which I have posted before because of its importance to hip hop.

Another on my playlist from the 90s, who didn't like Boys II Men.
I can't wait I will be seeing them in concert early next year. This is my favorite slow jam from them

I hope they do this one in concert as well. From their debut LP (1991)

Oh man yeah GREAT GREAT SONG by them. Where are they performing? Found it - March 13, 2025: Great Canadian Casino Resort. The ladies will be out that night for sure. :sneaky:😀😅
One of the reasons I like them so much, you cant help but sing along with them, one of the best groups in my opinion.

My 2 fave Crown Heights Affair songs:

which begat this one, pretty much all about the "didididi dit dit dit" (with a slight variation) disco break...

Fo me, anything that was played in the Montreal discos I generally just classify as "disco", while realizing there are many different genres involved.

For example this one by New Order, which was huge in the discos, but certainly wasn't traditional early r&b based disco...
