A recommendation for clubbing in Toronto? The new SO wants to go.

Just from the sound of things, it seems that here in Toronto nowadays there simply aren't many really good places to go out and dance. The last I have ever been inside a club was back in 2004, and I certainly remembered quite a few different clubs to go out and dance the night away -- my co-worker/friends back then were a young crowd and loved to go out clubbing on Friday nights. I don't remember the names of all the clubs we went to, but I remember My Apartment, supposedly known as a "cougar magnet".

I personally am not much of a club person, and would NEVER have gone to these places if I was by myself or even with a date, but it was a lot of fun to go in a large group of friends because of the camaraderie, and I remembered having lots of fun.

Thanks for everyone's advice. Turns out I didn't need to make plans. My SO and her friends sorted everything out. We ended up avoiding the downtown core and headed out west to a club called Dirty Martinis in a shopping area. I was quite surprised by the crowd that could be drawn all the way out there. There was even a line up to get in.

Overall, the night was somewhat fun and towards the end of the night I felt like I was 20 again, dancing naughty and drunk on the dance floor with my date. The night cost about 700 dollars for two bottles, 5 people and freaking expensive cab ride to and from downtown. If I ever do this again, I would most likely stay at hotel in the area and have great hotel sex with my SO (and maybe convince a friend of hers to join!), it would be cheaper.

Try something out of Toronto next time. Toronto seems dirt cheap and nasty (not in a good way either). I dont go clubbing anymore as it has no class and it just sleazy. I would recommend suaga clubs (body english), or niarga falls (dragon fly) get booth service, dragon fly will seem to be your crowd, type and music type.

I would say no to body english as it the same downtown crowd and atmosphere and the younger clubs...its just for the ppl who dont wanna or have no way of getting to downtown...trust me I go there fairly often...

I was at dragonfly on friday, and to be honest the crowd is the pretentious young money crowd...did not enjoy myself at all, a lot of ppl standing around their little booths with plenty of full bottles just showing off...reminds of yorkville, not many ppl dancing or even appearing to be having any fun. Waste of time.
