I'll ask the same question again,...which was never answered,...just what the hell constitutes "drinking",...???

And I have to disagree with you on the,..."You are choosing to get drunk",...that is not what happens with a lot of drunk drivers,...starts out with a glass of wine or a beer,...then escalates,...ok,...just one more,...do you call a cab now,...or is the ability to make a responsible decession already long gone,...???

As a former bartender drinking constitutes in my opinion for a standard male in the 180 range more than one drink every two hours. For a female they(barring exceptions) tend to be smaller and process alcohol with one third less efficiency(look it up) so one every three for them.

After that judgment can start to be impaired. And can fast lead to shots and stupidity.

This comes from years of experience and observation in every kind of bar and social setting. Every demographic and age group.

After one drink things start to go downhill. It's inevitable. Not absolute but the majority at least.

So have one. Be there for awhile, switch to soda. Eat something if you can and you can drive home.

More than what I said and depending on when your size, capacity, sex, you can be considered impaired in some jurisdictions. And in my opinion as well.

And I will add if you want order a second, then you are making a choice.. period. And you have no excuse.

So in essence, we are saying, if a person orders a second "drink" soon after the 1st, that individual must now give his/hers keys to a designated driver or order a cab, because all bets are now off.

I'm not disagreeing with you, mostly, but it simply comes down to making those decisions,...its not complicated at all.

But I fear,...this seldom happens.

I think what happens too often is, people go out for a drink, it escalates, everybody in the group is now in no position to make a sober decision,...and bang, dead people.

The solution, I just come up with scenarios,...I'm don't come up with fixes. :yield:

Why would you even order the second drink if you are driving?????
He is, I believe, discussing peer pressure.

And I'm of the opinion that anyone who gives in to peer pressure isn't an adult and not responsible enough for a driver's license.

I've never found this even a little difficult. If I'm going somewhere I'm planning on drinking, say to the pub to watch a game after work with coworkers, I leave the car at home, because drinking will happen. If for some reason I have the car then I just don't drink.

How is that difficult?

It's not difficult. That's what I do as well. But FAST and I were simply telling you what happens in the real world, and the reason people end up driving when they've had more than they should.

OBVIOUSLY the best thing to do is leave your car at home if you're going out for drinks. Or if you've had a few, leave your car and take a cab. But people aren't as smart as you and I. They have a couple, think they're okay to drive but they're not. I'm not condoning it, I'm just telling you what happens.

People who do that are a danger to society and deserve to be locked up. Who gives a fuck why they can't control themselves?

I don't care if it is drunk driving, distracted driving, driving too fast for the coditions, etc my thoughts are with the victims and their famiies. Maybe if we all think of that and would you want to be responsible for their pain, we would just say why bother.Taxi, transit, uber, there are just too many options.
I hope you and your loved ones have a safe and happy holoday season.

Who said it was difficult.

What is difficult,...is trying to help you understand something that goes on out side of Fuji World.

Plus,...who gives a shit what you do,...!!!

I'm forever puzzled by the whole notion of drinking and driving.
Just don't do it.
There is no excuse that makes it acceptable. None.
If I know I'm driving, which is almost all the time, I just do not touch even an ounce of alcohol.
Plain and simple. Absolutely zero. I have my own personal zero tolerance for this and I stick to it.

When people ask what about this and what about that, etc., etc., etc.
It's all bullshit.
Just don't do it.

Simple logic: if you are driving, don't drink.
Absolutely! The only I00% certain and responsible plan.

If you have had a drink you're no more fit to judge your own competence than a cop who'd been drinking would be fit to give evidence. Or a judge who'd had a coupla belts would be fit to determine guilt.
