We've all enjoyed ourselves poking fun at this rich man's daughter. We've been critical of her for not seeing a job through, for being a lightweight without principles and of having loose morals. For always beings in the public eye she's taken her lumps; especially when she was so ambivalent about leaving politics. Now we know why she left.

Belinda Stronach has breast cancer; recently she's had a mastectomy and reconstructive breast surgery. Whatever she may have been, she didn't deserve this. No one does. I, for one, hope she makes a full recovery and is with us for a very long time.

Sometimes "life" just up and smacks you one right in the kisser. Must have been quite a wake-up call for her (as it would be to anyone).

This is a bit of old news now...you been out of the country?

I thought this was news a month or so ago.

I don't have any sympathy for her.

ahem,

Quiz:

1. Where would you put Stronach, as an MP, in terms of percentage brightness?

a) top 25% of MP's?
b) 25% to 50% of MP's?
c) 50% to 75% of MP's?
d) 75% to 100% of MP's?

How do you define lightweight? How many women have had a greater impact on Canadian Federal politics in the last 25 years?

2. In terms of being "loose" morally, I'd say she was definitely less loose than any of you (including me).

3. If you want to criticize her, pick on her most recent choice of man.

Say what you want about her, she isn't dumb! I don't care if your father did found the company, you DO NOT get to be a senior executive (she holds the position of Executive Vice-Chairman) of a multi-billion dollar publicly traded company just because of your daddy. The woman has brains!

Why of course...and you don't get to be President of the US of A if you are bumbling idiot just because you are rich & you're Daddy had the job.. but wait... that happened too!!!

Certainly B.S. is not 'stupid'. but there is no way on this planet that she would be where she is if it wasn't for her Daddy. There is a difference between a publicly traded company and a publicly controlled company.

talk about a fall from grace...

Benedict Stonach is a two faced turncoat, useless in politics. We vote her in as a PC and she jumps when promised a ministers position? talk about crap! Saying that, She doesn't deserve the physical ailments.

No one deserves cancer, no one deserves to be disfigured.

I'm no fan of belinda but when this was announced awhile back I expressed my condolences. Since I'm a been there, done that survivor of the "C" word I have empathy for her inspite of our obvious political differences.

If you are successful and bad things happen to you some peoples reactions can be strange. Way back when I was first diagnosed and dealing with my uncertain future a fellow who I had thought was a friend actually told me to my face that I deserved the cancer, things had come too easily for me and this was payback. I had no idea of that being his true feelings before he expressed them. We don't speak anymore. Just goes to show, those who may appear as friends aren't always.

Now back to our regular programming.

Belinda left because was being verbally abusive (she's not the first person, nor the last, to suggest that behind closed doors Harper can be a boor).

She'd been long time acquaintances with David Petersen, who was also close friends with her daddy - a long time Liberal supporter until she went the other way.

But I understand your sentiment - and I'm sure you feel the same way about David Emerson - who switched just days after being elected and without anyone being verbally abusive toward him (until after).

I feel sorry for her health. Good thing she can afford to "take time off work" to take care of herself. Remember, some women out there don't have tha luxury of that plus the best health care money can buy.

However, there is something to be said about people who never finish anything they start in life and she has a perfect record in that. I do hope that the pattern of not finishing anything she has started in life doesn't follow her cancer treatment or vise versa.

what hasn't she finished?

Are you saying she should have stayed in politics while fighting breast cancer? Is there something there she didn't finish? She certainly finished previous attempts at relationships.

I'm just not sure what you mean. For that matter, some people even argue in favour of term limits for politicians....

Totally incorrect. She's a college dropout who is a senior executive because her daddy controlled Magna. Until a couple of months ago, her daddy had controlling interest of his company.

BTW, George Bush was a senior executive and graduate of Yale and Harvard, what does this say of so-called 'business executives'? show me a millionaire and I'll show you a crook.

family, school, work, politics... all left in the middle. Is that enough to tell you what kind of a person she is? Worthless (one word)

bullshit.

What was left unfinished with politics? What did she leave as a parent?

What did she leave unfinished at Magna?

Actually Magna is not doing very well at all. There have been a number of layoffs from their various facilities on Aurora and Newmarket. They have lost the productions of Chrysler 300s in Austria as well as the BMW X3 (or is it X5?) production in Austria too. They are in trouble and because they lost out on buying Chrysler from Daimler-Benz, they are in even more trouble.
