Yep, I played with Linpus a bit, it's nice and a 10 second boot it great.
That probably boots so quick because they disable so many features on the lite version. That may be OK if it does all you want it to, for mainly web surfing.
It is basically a "black box" system, with firefox 2.0.0.14, and it is major
surgery to go to firefox 3.

I use it when I am travelling, for webaccess (stock trading) and word
processing and spreadsheets. Almost all hotels and resorts, even in third world
countries have wireless, and I don't store any files on the SSD, I use a usb
flash drive for my files, so I am playing along with acer and use it as a "black box".

Yeah, too bad about the non-support from Acer.
Toshiba is the same, offers no linux support.
However any questions I have are answered on the Ubuntu forums which have been very helpful the few times used.

I cannot find the Linux version of these netbooks at either Tiger Direct or Canada Computers. Are they not for sale any more? Everything has Windows on it.

Looking for the Acer, 8.9 inch screen, 6 cell battery, not sure about SSD versus the 160G HD models.

Acer was using Linpus Lite Linux distro.
One of the lesser used linux distros.

www.distrowatch.com should have some info on that distro under Linpus.

For future reference, if you want to check your filesystem the command is fsck. Just make sure your filesystem is unmounted before you do it. It doesnt' matter what distro you are using. Some commands are universal.

My pleasure. You may want to, from time to time, backup your home directory. All your important info lives here and if you ever need to wipe your drive for any reason, restoring this data will make everything right as rain :D
