Activating iPhone 2 (1st Generation)

I've been told that this first generation iPhone will only work on Rogers or Fido networks; no-go with Telus and Bell.

There is no such phone called an iPhone 2. If you are refering to the original iPhone, it will not work in Canada unless you get it unlocked. It was not available in Canada so you cannot find it locked to any canadian carrier.

Okay, forget the "2" but it is a 1st edition iPhone obtained in the USA. So my query stands: when unlocked are my only options Rogers or Fido?
