I didn't realize that it was so easy to add RAMs to my P.C. How come nobody told me earlier? It is so simple.:p

probably the cheapest, easiest and most effective upgrade you can do to a PC
as long as your PC and OS support the extra memory
lots of youtube videos show how easy

another easy and quite often cheap upgrade is your video card

with those 2 upgrades and a few minutes of your time you can get pretty amazing results for very little money

Is the video card easily removable and a new one easily insertable? What does it look like and where can it be found? Can you post a pic of a video card and its location inside the computer?

Yes, it snaps tightly in just like RAM.
However spec wise it's a bit more tricky. You have to check to see if your PC and its power supply can handle it.

lots of videos on Youtube on how to. the biggest difference with installing ram vs a video card is ram has no software to install and video card requires installation of video drivers.

here is a video with Windows XP.

nothing to it as long as everything is compatible

Because Apple wants to make you believe that it is really hard and that only geeks like to do stuff like that with their PC.

That may be what they tell gullible PC-types, but their support site told me how to double my MacBook RAM. Three captive Phillips screws to loosen and retighten afterwards. About as non-techy as a laptop could be.

Many thanks. How is the power of a video card measured? Is it measured in GB's? How powerful a video card do I need to run a 1920x1080p video?

Other stores like Best Buy, etc., do this also.

In many respects working on any PC is as simple as putting together a component stereo system. The main thing with PCs is you have to ground yourself so nothing delicate inside gets fried. Tiger Direct in the past had plenty of very helpful DIY videos to walk you through most upgrades. As posted above YouTube does the same.

or an older laptop might even be cheaper aka a pent 3-4. Bigger screen than a netbook bigger harddrive and an optical drive. Game over

Gotta confess that I haven't looked up the prices recently, but P3 memory (DIMM, I think) was always expensive any time I tried to find it. Prolly cheaper to buy something more recent than to upgrade a P3. (Though I might entertain offers on my old P3, which already has tons of expensive memory and a CD burner. Yep, seems like I'm diverting this thread to Havana)

I don't know about that.
Laptops are more fragile and have less durable parts than desktops. I would opt for a used desktop before buying any used laptop.
