Adding USB 2.0 to my PC

Currently I have USB 1.1. Looked at possible options to upgrade to 2.0. Came across, http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=578779&CatId=51 . Not sure if I can fit another 5.25 bay. I already have 3 drives, 1 dvd, 1 cdrw both of which are same height (about 1.75 inches). and 1 floppy which is about and inch in height, a bit smaller than the dvd drives. There seems to be one more which is the same height as the floppy bay. Not sure if this one can fit in there. Are there any other choices. I don't need something as extensive as the above link with so many features. I need to upgrade only to USB 2.0.

It will be good if I can find a internal card with usb 2.0 and ethernet port. The reason is, all my PCI slots are full and the only thing I can change without disrupting my current configuration is the ethernet card.

Where can I look? Any help appreciated.

Thanks WIYD. I edited my post while you were posting to mention that all my PCI slots are full and I need something with an ethernet port also. The other thing which I can change is, if I can find a card with ethernet and 56K modem combined. Then I use the cards mentioned above. Sorry. Thanks for the help.

My current PCIs are filled with
1) video card
2) sound card
3) 56K modem
4) ethernet card
5) firewire and another port for a video editing device.

The stupid video editing device is my bottleneck. I don't want to get rid of that yet.

This device won't give you USB 2.0 support, all it does is takes what you have inside the computer to the front panel.

Get rid of your firewire card and replace it with this:

I use it convert some home videos. Nothing fancy, but just enough to create it in a DVD. I have been considering getting a MAC, but with our main hobby being expensive as such, cannot manage to save up for it. If I stop hobbying for 2 to 3 months, then probably I can buy one:)

That device that plugs into the front of your PC is cool. Here I am complaining that I don't have easy access to the USB ports on the back of my case and using an extension cable instead, and I could have spent the money on a front-loaded USB device. Nice!

Sigh!!!! I could not find any card with either 56K modem/ethernet combo or usb 2.0/ethernet combo. The firewire and usb 2.0 combo is available and makes more sense.

So decided to do the following. Since I am using the ethernet port only for connecting my broadband modem, I can get rid of it and use the usb to connect my modem. Will replace the network card slot with one of the usb 2.0 standalone or firewire combo. In the event I need a network card, I can always use a adapter like the one below to connect through the USB port.

It will work, but does not blend in with my configuration. As I mentioned previously, my video editing device derives power from a 26 pin port which is part of my current firewire card. So I cannot get rid of my firewire card. So I have decided to get rid of my network card instead and use this one or similar.

The only thing which would have helped me was a combo of 56K modem/ethernet card or usb 2.0/ethernet. I was trying to retain my network port.

My main problem was I do not have a free PCI slot.

I read the reviews for the zonet http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1026753&CatId=0 which WYYD mentioned. Somebody has made this complaint.
"Poor design of Firewire ports. Was not able to seat Firewire connectors into card due to lack of clearance between the back of the chasis and the ports. Zonet customer support stated that other customers have complained about the same issue. I was trying to install the card into a Dell Dimension 8200"
I have a similar DELL PC.
