Advice needed........

My wife and I are planning a trip to Toronto for her birthday this month. Since we live in western NY, we thought we'd take the new Ferry from Rochester to Toronto. We have two questions:
First, does the subway system connect from the Ferry terminal to downtown Toronto? Secondly can you recommend a reasonable hotel to stay at? (and yes, we are planning to book one of your fine sp's for a nice couple encounter)

1) No, but you can take a streetcar from the Ferry to the subway

As far as I know the Rochester Ferry docks at the foot of Cherry ST. There is no streetcar down there. Best to take a cab I would say.

This map clearly shows that the Rochester Ferry docks at the foot of Cherry St. Sorry guys... but that is not no way a five mins walk from Union Stn. Also there are no streetcars down there. It's in the middle of the boondocks. The only way out I say is a taxi.

Sorry my friend... hope this does not discourage you. It's worth the ride once you get here.

Whoa.... I understood it was docking right by capt johns seafood.... my mistake. It's an $8.00 cab ride to union stn from there.

That will be $5. American!

...You will have to take a cab after you debark from the Ferry.

What's your price range (in Canadian dollars)? Do you want to stay downtown? The Royal York is very nice.

I'll second the recommendation on the Royal York, which has a very convenient location right across the street from Union Station. The King Edward, very close to King and Yonge, is also fantastic. I've had great success in the past booking through the hotel websites, which often offer specials that you can't find elsewhere.

I would recommend the InterContinental Hotel on Front Street. It is within walking distance of fine restaurants, nightclubs and theatres.

Also, it is three blocks from Union Station.

the TTC does have a bus that connects from the ferry terminal right at cherry beach that goes up and in to union station.
