Dave, you crack me up...Next I should believe the Civic or the Accord look cool?

Say what you want, but American Performance cars have style...have you seen a new mustang? How about the new GTO? Or the Corvette?

Most of the rice rockets look strikingly similar to the Vette, Viper, and other American sports cars. I'm not going to argue that there aren't quality issues with American cars vs. imports, but don't try to tell me a subaru has more style than a Corvette...

GIMME A BREAK!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH (Dave style)

Which one? The new 5-series that is being feature in BMW Magazine?

I don't really know yet ... somtimes they look really nice or shitty in pics but look the opposite in real life.

If your talk about the new 7 series ... they fucking kick ass. My dad loves the new 7 ...
Very true. I didn't think much of the 7 series when I first saw it online. But in person, it looks way cool. Same to some degree with the Z4. However, the jury really is out on the new 5 which does look too Mazda or cheap American design with the overkill designed headlights.
What's the best looking cars....Audi. Understated sporty elegance.

I saw pics of the new 5-series interior and it looks really cheap ... errr ... But I am a big fan of the present M5 though ... hell!!! who needs an M5 when a 540 can do a fine job of taking on almost any car ...

Yes, I agree with the above statement ... Audi makes fine, sporty, elegant and luxurious cars embodied in one sheet metal ...

DenWa: American cars ain't got no style no more man ... Personally, I think the Ford Focus is an excellent car for its price. Yet, the damn thing wasn't even designed in America ... hahahahaha ...

The Vette eh? Well, have a look at the interior as well and you would be bitching too ... the Viper? It looks like a Brit wannabe ... Well, I do have alot of respect for GM's subsidiaries in Europe, but that's because those cars were designed and engineered in Europe ... hahaha ... Who can forget the Cosworth Escort when it comes to rally racing? That little thing can probably take on a present day Subaru STi or a Lancer EVO ...

Man ... cars used to be America's business but it ain't anymore man ... hahahahaha ... just accept the criticism and do something about it and improve the present situation ... there is something wrong with American auto designs ... not to mention some still use OHV push-rod engines man ... thats just low tech ... hahahaha :D

No DenWa, you're not getting old.

The Focus is junk. There have been 9 recalls and counting for this relatively new car:

http://www.autosafety.org/article.php?did=297&scid=37

Anecdotal evidence isn't worth much against evidence like that, but for what it's worth, a friend of mine has been through hell and back with this thing.

And it's hideous too.

Dave is just wrong about this.

The Focus

My son owns two (Foci??) and they've been trouble-free for two years. My daughter purchased a wagon 6 months ago, and no problems there, either. The recalls have been for some minor things, and the cars are wonderful handling, good riding and amazingly spacious for the price. The awards they win (Car and Driver Ten Best, etc.) are well deserved.

As I said...it's become trendy to slam everything American...including our cars....You think the inside of a Vette is ugly? Have you sat in a Japanese car lately? Talk about small...and Volkswagon makes some of the ugliest cars I've ever seen. I'm sorry...you guys buy your non-American cars...for all the bitching people do about U.S. cars, I've owned a Dodge Avenger since '99...it's speedy, stylish, and I have never had a single day of trouble with it. If it gets better than that, then fuck me...I'll stick to supporting my community and my country. If Canada made cars, I would expect you to buy them too. As long as something doesn't suck (and if American cars sucked as bad as you guys think they do everyone I know would be in the shop) I fully support buying your own domestic vehicles and supporting your own economy.

A nickel's worth of free advice, Dave - get real

VW's make the ugliest cars? Are you outta your mind my friend?

Shit man ... you have absolutely no appreciation of aesthetics man ... VWs are nice, look aggressive and have nice interiors too. Their dashboards are all made by VDO ... a very good subsidairy of Siemens of Germany ...
What does America have? Hmmm ... AC Delco ... hahaha ... And not to mention, Germany also has BOSCH and their engine managment systems are some of the best in the world ...

Plus, Americans only know how to make big ass cars that are just butt ugly, can't handle well and the interiors are shitty. Besides, "muscles cars" are only brude force and power ... its just low tech. I mean a Mustang uses a 5.0 V8 ... its obvious your gonna get 300 horses from it man. But a Japanese car such as the S2000 is only a 2.0L and produces 240 horses ... and as for the Germans, the BMW M3 is only 3.2L and produces 321 horses man ... I am telling you man ... the days when America produces Sting Rays, GT40's and Shelby Cobras are over man ...

But, yet ... Chrysler is doing alot better now ... but only because of German (Mercedes) management ... hehehe ... What happened to America's Mr. Fords and Mr. Taylors? What happened? Where has America's automotive spirit gone?

You expect me to watch Daytona and watch them go in circles ... blah ...

American cars just aren't doing wel,l so just admit it man ... but again, I have to stress that they have improves significantly over the past 5 or so years borrowing manufacturing and management techniques from overseas ...

Come now DenWa

I am a huge consumer of American products!

Food. Clothes. Particularly entertainment products (movies, television, professional sports).

I just don't particularly like the cars. To me, it's not even a quality (i.e. how well built they are) thing. There just aren't many in the niche that I like.

The Eagle Talon *kind* of fit the mold of what I like, but that had Japanese underpinnings (Mitsubishi). Good power-to-weight ratio, AWD... great bang for the buck.

Besides, with all of the Japanese auto-plants based in the U.S. (as mentioned by others), you're also supporting the domestic economy by buying foreign!
