take on Nomar Garciaparra he was a great infielder and Toronto could use him at SS
Nomar's defensive liabilities will prevent him from being a SS pretty much anywhere. Even the Star's article say the Jays would be interested in him at 3rd, 1st or DH. Most other discussions involving Nomar with other teams has him at 1st or OF (including as CF for the Yankees).
My guess is the ideal for the Jays would be to move Koskie, play Hill at 3rd (or Adams at 3rd and Hill at SS). Or switch one of those two to 2nd and trade Hudson for a big bat.
Personally, I'm not too impressed with the available hitters and would rather see the Jays try to win 2-1 games by adding Barry Zito. A Halladay, Zito Burnett, Chacin, Towers rotation would look real nice.

Wherever I shouldn't be
I think Nomar is done as a shortstop. Problem is, he doesn't. He'd make a great OF/DH though, or could play Third. He still has great hands but has lost some range, and was never a GREAT defensive shortstop.

Reports suggest the following deal is close to being done:

To the Blue Jay's:
Overbay

To the Brewers:
Hillenbrand
Bush

This is a tough deal to swallow, It is definatly a cost cutting move as Overbay and Hillenbrand are roughly the same Stats wise, but still, thus those two cancell each other out in terms of their effect on the team. With the departure of Bush (who has a strong future as a good starter somewhere down the line) There either has to be someone coming back with Overbay to the Jays or their is another FA signing or deal in the works.
If this is true then:

Overbay arbitration will probably net him around 2 million-Hillenbrand will likely come in around 5 million-Thus saving them roughly 3 mil.

BJ are making room in their logjam rotation-Bush was never a favorite of J. Gibbons-pretty evident when he got demoted to AAA-Decent pitcher-Probably #3 guy at best.

If we get rid of Bush and Hillebrand in exchange for Overbay then we are back to square one minus one pitcher okay so we save 3 millions but you are forgetting bush's salary (not sure what it is but i doubt is 3 mil)

what i am saying is that this move will not solve the lack of power tha BJ expirienced last year

I liked Bush. He was hard luck though. He'd usually give up a few runs early and then shut down the opposition. However, the Jays' bats were never able to come back for him. With the Jays pitching depth, he's expendable.

why not shop Hinske and Batista around instead???
I'd be willing to bet J.P.'s been trying. But for the same reasons you want to dump them other GM's don't want them. Hillenbrand was more marketable, and he was never acquired in the first place with the intent of him being here long term.

!!!!!!!!!!!!false alarm!!!!!!!!!!

The Blue Jays have acquired Lyle Overbay and a prospect from the Brewers in exchange for David Bush, Gabe Gross and Zach Jackson, according to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal.
No Shea Hillenbrand.

That's a lot to give up considering he is not really any better compare to the person he is replacing, this is a horrible deal they could atleast get better players for the people they are trading. I hope this is only a rumor
Overbay .276 19 72
Hinske .262 15 68

I didn't misunderstood,

I know they traded gross, bush and jackson

what i'm saying Overbay is going to be playing first, hence he is replacing Hinske but his number are not any different

WELL THANK GOD!

I like this trade alot more. This means Hinkse is out, he'll be sent packing with nothing in return, which is fine by me.

sorry i must have miss something but how do you figure that Hinske is out????

and believe me i hope you are right but i don't see how you arrive to this conclusion or if it is just wishful thinking because so far no other team (to my knowledge) has expressed any interest on him

I'd be affraid to trade Hinske. I don't know, with our luck, he may burst out with a big power year. They owe it to themselves to give the 2002 rookie of the year one more year of chance.

Hell JP has been given an extension.
