I check the boxscores every morning just to see that his stats. He did go 1/5 yesterday.Alex Rios in 22 games with the White Sox is hitting .154 with 3 RBI's. Maybe they wanted him for his arm in right field? This guy must miss Vernon "0 for 4" Wells hitting behind him.
Add on the 100 games with the Jays, and he is still a bum. So glad they let him go.22 games doesn't make a career with the white sox, he is a young player and this season is pretty much a wash for me. Just make sure to have your regular update next season.
Ozzie does not seem like a patient guy.22 games doesn't make a career with the white sox, he is a young player and this season is pretty much a wash for me. Just make sure to have your regular update next season.
Rios and Wells were never that great. Have they ever won a batting title or led the league in HR's or RBI's? Being an "all star" at the end of July is not all that meaningful. First it is only at mid-season and every team has at least one all star. There has to be an explanation for this disaster... he has been on a spiral down ever since he took part in the home run derby at the All Star game in 2007... it seems that he played just well enough to buy into a great contract and then simply stopped trying.
I think that what you are seeing with doc is just mental fatigue, and perhaps some huge disappointment. If he gets a fresh start next year, perhaps with another team, you might be looking at the Cy Young winner..Now Halladay is showing signs of decay, especially since the all star game.
I always wonder about concealed injuries with the kind of endless slump that both Rios and Wells are having. Little rips and tweaks can wreck your batting motion. As I said in another thread, I have been watching his career from very early on because he showed so much talent and promise earlier that I was convinced I was watching the evolution of a super star...

Please don't put Halladay in the same class as those other clowns.Rios and Wells were never that great. Have they ever won a batting title or led the league in HR's or RBI's? God has finally given us some payback for the White Sox chump-boozling that incompetent, arch-cretin Gord Ash in the Mike Sirotka deal.Ozzie does not seem like a patient guy.
I know its childish to be happy that he is doing so poorly, but I can't help it. It the only that is good about the Jays since the 2nd month of the season
Totally agree. Halladay would not even come remotely close to their level of incompetence if he pitches for another 1,000 years. With Halladay, we are speaking of degrees of excellence. Please don't put Halladay in the same class as those other clowns.
Wonder how he would have done if he stayed with the Jays? Also, VW seem to have been a better hitter since Rios' departure.A Rios update for everyone. In 125 at bats with the Chisox he's hitting .176 with 3 hr's and 6 RBI's.
Is VW inflating his numbers at the expense of minor league September pitching callups by teams no longer in contention? Shame on VW!Wells always seems to do well down the stretch run when they are far out of contention and then his numbers dont end up looking overly bad at the end of the season.
How about the entire outfield of Bell, Moseby and Barfield, once considered one of the greatest all of time for a few year period (85-87). Those guys fell from there peak all very quickly and were no longer productive by 31-32.I always wonder about concealed injuries with the kind of endless slump that both Rios and Wells are having. Remember Kelly Gruber and Ed Sprague?
My anger with Rios has run its course. I am sure that he is not pissing away his career just because it is so enjoyable. I am now cheering for the bum to do better next year (just so I can come on TERB and complain that JP Riciardi gave up on Rios too soon.. LOL)A Rios update for everyone. In 125 at bats with the Chisox he's hitting .176 with 3 hr's and 6 RBI's.
With some exceptions (and not including Pitchers) Players peak around 26 and most are on the downside by 32.How about the entire outfield of Bell, Moseby and Barfield, once considered one of the greatest all of time for a few year period (85-87).
