I'm surprised that Roy Hodgson has given up on AQ, the injury riddled play-maker has been loaned out to Juventus. I thought Liverpool had been sold and their debt problems taken care of?

AQ was considered surplus with the inclusion of Cole and Poulsen, he would have just sat on the bench mostly. As for the sale yeah thats an ongoing disaster, the supposed Chinese takeover by Huang has fallen through, things are going from bad to worse. With 2 idiot owners who are asking for an insane price, the club riddled with debts and the need for a new stadium to compete with the other big boys who built their own (Man Utd, Arsenal). There is talk of the club actually going into administration like Portsmouth did last year.

Liverpool could have a very rough afternoon in front of them against the Citizens, they have a very hungry Mario Balotelli to contend with. Inter are weaker without him, last season when opposing midfields closed in on Sneidjer he was often substituted for Balotelli. That option isn't available this campaign - stoopid Benitez.

So it came down to a straight swap, Poulsen for AQ. Juventus won that deal.

Lady luck smiles on the rest of the CL, Werder Bremen eliminates Sampdoria. The Blucherciati were up 3-0 and should have booked their ticket for the CL Group Stages - but their lack of match fitness did them in again. An Italian-centric team like Samp would have been a tough nut for any major club to crack. The EPL got lucky (again), Tottenham got to fool around with young boys.

August in Italy, no one thinks about football.

How will the EPL cope with the forthcoming tax reforms proposed by Britain's new Coalition government? That would mean closing the gaping tax loopholes that clubs have enjoyed; this made the EPL and attractive opinion to foreign investors and has allowed for the most generous player's wages in the world. Prime Minister Cameron promised fairer taxation during his election campaign; considering the aggressive spending cuts he's proposing, to renege on this promise may risk political suicide.

Montolivo and Pepe are killing the Azzurri; the former cannot co-habitate with Pirlo and the latter is full of energy and furry resulting in nothing. Pirlo may seem ot have been around forever but he is only 22 days from his 31 birthday and is still fiercely committed to the cause. Some of Prandelli's problems could be solved if Santon and Macheda got playing time. Of course, Mario Balotelli getting ambushed in Romania doesn't help - bloody Manchester!

Rossi will always be a peripheral player at best he could become another Miccoli; Macheda has the potential to be a World No. 1. He has all the skills to become so but there is a blemish in his persona; he is the product of teenage pregnancy and has been something of a meal ticket for his parents. This is how ManU were able to subvert Italy's strict child labour laws in the first place. His talent is irrefutable but he could also have the same issues that cut short the career of George Best.

Hmm... was it intentional? I think the player got away with a freebie! Though I have to give it to the ref for seeing the humour in it. She was such a good sport she just laughed it off. But I just can't stand those commentators that they couldn't stop giggling and laughing about it.

You are so lost. So between your anointed Mario Balotelli and Francesco Macheda, Italy will have the top two players in the world? Fergy sent a few players out on loan but he wanted to keep Macheda because he wanted him close where he could still keep an eye on him and give him a chance to fight for playing time. Word is, he's arrogant (in a good way) but has a temper. The reason he isn't getting a lot of playing time is simple. He's not good enough yet. Rooney, Bebatoiv, Owen, and Hernandez all get picked over him. But he is only 19 and is only going to get better. He won't be the best in the world, but a great striker nonetheless. I hope Man Utd can keep him, but maybe the best thing for him is to go back to Italy where he'd be more comfortable.
