I’ve met some nice asian sps, and I do hope they get what they want out their choices to move on to something as we all know their value drops as they get older.

In that way, I rationalize my patronage as philanthropy - perhaps my way to feel a bit better about the whole thing.

So I have seen this before. An Asian SP dreaming of staying in Canada and opening a business to get out of the SP business. They work for years as an SP and save their money, working long hours, delivering great service as an SP. During this time they somehow get their Canadian citizenship. The day they get a passport is a giant milestone. Then they leave the business, maybe with a few hundred thousand to invest and start a business. A few years later. Now older, less attractive, tired and sadder, they are back as an SP - the other business having not worked out. I don't know what the other business was that they invested in. I don't ask. Anyway, what is a girl to do? Say a former Asian SP wants out of the SP business. She has Canadian citizenship, passable English but not a university graduate and not likely to make it through college or any higher education. She has a few hundred thousand to invest. What can she invest in, start up, that is most likely to succeed business wise and provide her with a living?

Best investment is to invest in yourself and get an education. Preferably something that includes a license and some barriers to entry. I have seen some very good outcomes using this pathway. There are many older students today who do not complete a degree or license in the normal time. Successful people ignore usual barriers and reinvent themselves on their own schedule.

It is always wise to work in a business first for somebody else before investing in it. Make your mistakes on their dime and see if you really like it. The best job or business is one you can be obsessed with. Also, try to put a roof over your head. Take pressure off your cost of living. This is no small task in a city like Toronto.

Try to hit singles, doubles, and triples. Don't bet everything on hitting home runs and swinging for the fences.

This is genius level advice.

Aside from an education and employment in desirable field $$$ , i would suggest a franchise or purchase and existing cash positive business. The scenario is the same no matter if your Canadian born or immigrant. Running a business is not for everyone but with the correct amount of money all you need is the drive. I have a circle of immigrant friends threw one of my hobby’s who all are now running successful operations. Partnerships are another avenue that is overlooked. Networking and social circle play a big role in that.

I`m watching this unfold in the first person.. a front row seat. She is an accomplished actress if that is the case, she`s becoming very clingy and possessive.
